Acid Burns

Ever screwed up a look and then thought ‘Fuck it, I’ll add some fall out and some pink shit?’

I have.

What do you do when your look doesn’t go how you wanted? Wipe it off? Carry on? Go nuts?

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Pinocchio inspired look

I'm not going to lie, this film scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. If you drink, you turn into a donkey?! What the hell?! Terrifying! At least Pinocchio himself is cute.

                                                                                                               Don't I look fucking stoked?

Eyes: All shadows from Sleek Bohemian, red liner Inglot matte gel liner in, blue liner Ulta in Ink.
Lips: Hardy Candy Glossaholic in Lush
Face: Benefit 10

Man, mascara smudges. My bad. I think I got the colours totally wrong... I wanted the focus on the yellow, for his hat, add some brown, because, you know, made of wood and all that jazz, and keep the colours in the liner but I think I went too dark with the blue and should have added some of the lighter blue and white. However, I think this was a fun look without being too in-your-face - I wore this to work!

I gave Vijaya Minnie Mouse to do this week so go and check out her look!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Mrs Potts

Mrs Potts is your favourite teapot, don’t lie. If I was charmed into an anthropomorphic household item, I’d want to be a teapot. Or a toastie machine…

Lid, MAC Gesso, pink from Sleek Circus palette. Crease, yellow from Sleek Circus palette. Upper and lower lashlines, Barry M Dazzle Dust in Lavender. Yellow liner, Inglot Gel Liner. Blue liner, Primark Foiled Again.

Sigh. This looks better in real life, but not that much. It was one of those ones where I kind of gave up half way through – I wanted to re-create to pattern on her bottom (tee hee) but the formula of the liners was too thick and it was gunking up my lashes…. Ah well.  I know what I would have done if I were to do it again… a pink lid, like hers, and yellow and purple brows.

I gave Vijaya Stich from Lilo and Stich this week, so go and check her look out!

Sleek Circus Palette Tutorial

I promised Rachael from The Beauty Spot  I’d do a Circus palette tutorial for her, and I’m not a liar so here it is! If you don’t have the Circus palette, you could do something similar with the Acid palette instead and substitute the purple on the lashline for black. You could also do something really similar with the Sugarpill Burning Heart palette if you have that as well.

This look is really simple with fairly minimal blending.  I actually only used two brushes, a flat shadow brush and a slightly fluffy pencil brush! Letsch get schtarted….

1
First, I primed my eyes with my normal primer (I use Urban Decay Primer Potion) to prevent creasing and then I applied a cream shadow (NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk) very lightly all over the lid, inner corner and lower lashline. Use this sparingly, as if you use too much it can crease.

2

Then I took the purpley-pink from the top right hand corner of the palette (Pretty, innit?) and packed it on with a flat shader brush on the outer two thirds of the lid.
3

Wiping the flat shader brush clean (I flicked off any pigment and then wiped it on a tissue), I then applied the yellow onto the inner corner of the eyes. You’ll need to go over this a couple of times to build up the colour depth – yellow can be a bit of a bugger sometimes.
4

I swept the yellow colour lightly inwards, with the shader bush, to blend it with the pink and then drew in toward my crease with a pencil brush with the yellow, stopping about halfway.
5

Using the same brush I then applied the orange to the outer half of my crease, blending the harsh line between the orange and yellow above where I blended the pink and yellow. Make sure you bring the orange around the outside of the eye and stop around where your waterlines meet.
6

Clean off your pencil brush again and apply the deep, metallic purple from the palette to your lower lashline. It might take a few times to build up the depth with this shade and you will get some fallout so be careful – if you’ve already applied your foundation pop a bit of powder under the eye and you can sweep it all away again afterwards. Then line your upper lashline with the purple. I went in on the top with my flat shader brush as it’s thinner, but that's just my preference.

7

Line your waterline in black pencil and set it with the black from the palette. Add a little black to the corners of your lashlines if you want to – if you are just using two brushes, make sure you only use one for the black as it’s hard to get off your brushes quickly and you’ll need a clean one for the next step.

8

I forgot to take a separate photo for these two stages, but take the white on the fluffier of your brushes and just go over the edges of the orange and yellow slightly so they don’t look so harsh. Add a little more white under the browbone, bung your eyebrows and a truckload of mascara on and you’re done!

I finished the look with a light peach cream blusher on the cheeks and lips, but you can go as bright as you want! If you want to keep it all Sleek, Pinkini Pout Paint would look awesome!

Let me know if you guys try it out!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Jane from Tarzan.

I love Disney's version of Tarzan. I will even say, without a trace of irony (or shame) that the Phil Collins soundtrack is awesome. Plus I love Jane's dress sense. I would totally wear a tie and gloves to the jungle.

Eyes: Lid, Inglot AMC 60. Inner lid and to blend lid colour, Darling Girl Mojo Jojo. Lower lashline, Inglot AMC 379. Inner lower lashline, Hi Fi Between the Stars. Liner, Inglot matte gel liners in 84.
Lips: Boots 17 Twilight Tease
Cheeks: Evil Shades Pouty and Darling Girl Yes Virginia.
Fiance says: 'You look like you've been punched in the cheek' and 'the yellow is really yellow.' I love him :D

I'm not going to say too much about this look (because Blogger already ate this post once) other than HOORAY, I love yellow, and BOO, I should have put some falsies on.

Vijaya got give Pascal from Tangled today which I cannot wait to see so go and check it out!

Darling Girl Love Week: Day Two

Note to self: Find an eyeliner you actually like.

Anyway... simple two colour look to show you today:

Eyes: Lid, Darling Girl Mojo Jojo. Crease and lower lashline (over Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Bourbon), Darling Girl Black Arabian. Lashes, free with Cosmo.
Cheeks: Darling Girl Fuji
Lips: Darling Girl Holo Gloss in Raining Blood.

I really like yellow eyeshadow so I was thrilled when I saw Mojo Jojo as a free sample with my latest DG order - it's a sweet sunny yellow with a peachy-pink shift and little aqua glitters! Absolutely gorgeous, I need to grab a petit jar! (Does anyone else feel bad always buying samples/small sizes or is it just me?!)

Stay tuned for day three!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Wall-E

Vijaya is giving me some awesome characters! This week I got Wall-e, the cutest robot ever, and I gave her King Louie, the orang-utan from The Jungle Book. I'm so happy I got Wall-e, I love how expressive the animators made him considering he only really has 'eyes,' and they're in a fixed shape.

Eyes: Lid, matte yellom from Sleek Circus. Crease, lower lashline, Fyrinnae STFU. Blended above crease, light brown from MUA Pretty Pastels. Highlight, matte cream from W&W Lush palette. Liner, Barry M Silver Black mixed with Inglot Duraline. Waterline, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero.
Cheeks: Beauty UK Baked Blush in Peaches and Cream
Lips: Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Romantique.

It was hard to choose colours for this look, as sometimes he's all rusty and neglected and then he gets a clean up later. I decided to go for a a bit of both. I really wanted to make a big deal of having bolts along the lashline, but it's really hard to do detail on foiled eyeshadow!

Thanks for reading, now go check out the King of the Swingers!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Dory

Have you checked out my 500 follower giveaway yet? It's got nice things in it!
Vijaya gave me Dory from Finding Nemo to do this week! I gave her Rafiki from The Lion King to do... I wanted to pick a less obvious one for her and I really can't wait to see what she did with the colours! I took my character pretty literally, which is why it's only on one eye - I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out! Not a wearable look at all... and is it wrong I REALLY love all the yellow on the lower lashline? Dory is a Blue Tang with short term memory loss... she can speak Whale, read English and is generally awesome:

All fish should have freckles! am I right or am I right?

Blues, yellow and white for highlight: All 120 palette.
Black: Barry M Dazzle Dust in black, mixed with Inglot Duraline
Glitter patch: Sleek Dip It in Carribean
Collection 2000 Extreme 24/7 mascara in blue

For a pretty quick job, I really like how this turned out! I wish I was able to get the lines underneath my eye thin, but I have find lines there and I don't think that tugging on them to do a look inspired by a fictional tropical fish is any way to elimate them ;)

Please go check out Vijaya's look, and wish me luck as I fear she'll give me something evil to do next week!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Mushu Look

I've wanted to do a Disney theme for a long time - I know there's a lot of Disney looks going round the blogosphere right now, but I don't really care! I asked Vijaya, author of Fierce Nerditude, if she wanted to colloborate, and she said yes. I picked Meg from Hercules for her to do, and she picked Mushu from Mulan for me! I love Mushu, he's such a legend.

'They popped out of the snow! Like daisies!'

Yeah, I know I have yellow all over my lashes.

Eyes:
Lid: Inglot AMC 60, gold from Wet N Wild Night Elf palette. Crease: Red from Night Elf palette, Fyrinnae Bite Me. Lower lashline: Inglot AMC 371. Liner: Inglot red gel liner, Maybelline black gel liner. Falsies: Superdrug 'Lash' lashes.

Lips:
Too Faced Glamour Gloss in Pillow Talk (thanks Rachel!)

Face:
Maybelline Dream Shit Mousse in 021 nude, ELF High Definition Powder, Almay Blush in Peach 130

I didn't want to do WOAHREDANDYELLOW, so I added a bit of gold and brown to tone it down - I had to go to a house party where people aren't used to my tranny makeup - although the red was slightly more vibrant in real life. I was already wearing the blue, and I sat down to take it off, but then thought it might be nice to play up the blue that Mushu has on his horns, to make it a little different.

Go and check out Vijaya's Meg look! I have a great one for her next time ;)

Playing with Inglot!

I've been a poorly bunny this week so I've not had the chance to play with my new Inglot stuff as much as I would have liked - I haven't got to use the lovely lime green yet! However, I'm please to report my intial impression is: awesome.

AMC 60 on lid, AMC 372 in crease, AMC 371 on lashline.

AMC 379 on lid. With blue mascara. Aw, yeeeah.
AMC eyeliner gel in matte 79 (the red one!). Shadows from Wet & Wild Comfort Zone palette.

Blimey O'Reilly, the shadows are pigmented. You'd think I'd have to pack on the bright blue on my lower lashline, right? Nah - it pretty much applied itself! And I am in love with the red gel liner and I need to catch 'em all - it went on so smoothly. I can't wait to use it more bitchingly.

Posting might be a little sporadic and/or swatch heavy this week. As I said, I've been ill which means less makeup, and I'm waiting on a new computer as this one is dying on it's arse :(

The power of suggestion....

A few days ago, I reverted to my favourite 'emergency' colour combination of purple and green:

Eyes:
Lid: Hi-Fi Cosmetics Another Day, Another Drama
Crease: Evil Shades Zombie
Lower Lashline: Living Dead Grrl That's A Fact!
Inner Corner: Evil Shades Wyvern

Cheeks:
I THINK it was MUA Shade 2.

Lips:
Gosh Light N' Shine Lipglaze in no5

Nice colours, and I haven't used Zombie or ADAD in an age, but I've done green and purple a lot lately. So I asked on my blog for a couple more suggestions. Pixie_a_la_mode suggested yellow and gunmetal:

Eyes:
Lid: Barry M Dazzle Dust in Yellow
Crease/Lower Lashline: Sleek 'Gunmetal' from Bad Girl Palette

In my head, I envisioned this as more of a soft cut crease with the yellow extending further up toward my browbone, but I got halfway through this look and remembered that Barry M Yellow is horrible. It's just... the glitter particles in it make it look nasty. I should have done this with a matte yellow, and perhaps something like Evil Shades Double Barrell, as I thought Gunmetal leaned a little blue. You live and learn, I'll be returning to this combo soon.

Beauty's Bad Habit suggested pink, brown and cream, which I thought sounded pretty!

Eyes:
Lid: Maybelline Monowear shadow in Sand
Crease: Combination of pinks from the Sleek Good Girl Palette (can't remember which ones, all the top row though!)
Outer V: matte brown from Sleek Bohemian
Lower Lashline: MUA Intense Colour liner in Malt Chocolate
Waterline: Nyx JEP in Milk, white from Sleek Circus

Cheeks:
MUA Blusher Shade 1
Accessorize Baked blusher in Pretty Pink

Lips: MUA lipgloss tube, shade 2

I loved this combo, particularly as it gave an excuse to use the Good Girl palette! I think I should have used a warmer brown as this one looked a bit purple once blended with the pink, but hey. The colour placement was inspired by the lovely SilhouetteScreams, of course.

It's soooo nice to have people on hand to help you choose colours! Feel free to bung more suggestions in my direction.

Upcoming posts, I'll have some swatches and looks of the the Paraguaya palette from the Sleek Avior La Peche collection, a review and swatches of High Voltage Lip Whips and some fun with a Wet n' Wild Stars N' Rockets dupe! Oh, and some pics of stuff I've done for photo shoots if anyone is interested? *shy* Oh, and please take a lil vote on the poll on the left, if you would!
