Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Cinderella

Cinderella is such a cute film - I love Gus! Lucifer is an evil prick, though, I'm glad he got his comeuppance!

I gave Vijaya Jafar to do this week and I can't wait to see what she did with it! Anyway, onto my Cinders look:

Image from cinderellainfo.com.

Lid, Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in no 13 Blue Silver. Crease, Bright blue from Sleek Circus, Hi Fi Morbid Faith. Lashlines, Hi Fi Chicago, tiny bit of black from Sleek Circus.

I'm really sorry there aren't any full faced pictures - I am a total idiot and had my t-shirt on inside out, ha ha ha! Anyway, I wanted a really sparkly lid to represent her glass slippers, and obviously the blues are for her ball gown...even though in the film, her dress isn't as blue as the toys/pictures of Cinderella. I was going to do a golden lower lashine, for her hair, but then I started using Hi Fi Chicago and sort of carried on. I always feel so girly when I wear light blues!

In which I wear green and enjoy it.

I never thought I would go completely nutso for green eyeshadow, but it turns out I do. I like them with my hair and you can go a bit brighter and funkier with greens without looking too OTT, if that bothers you.

Anyway, enough yakky, more look-y:

Eyes: Lid, Barry M Dazzle Dust in Mint. Crease and lower lashline, Wet & Wild Envy. To darken crease/lower lashline, black from Sleek circus. Highlight, Inglot matte 351.
You don't get full-faced photos for this look because I looked like a twat in them. I hardly ever darken the crease with black, but where the two greens were so different I felt I ought to go a little more dramatic.

Eyes: Lid, Fyrinnae Danse Macabre. Crease, Fyrinnae Meerkat. Outer V, Wet & Wild Envy. Highlight, Inglot matte 351.

I'm trying to use up several makeup items and my sample of Meerkat is one of them. It's got gorgeous green sparkles so it's a perfect fit with Danse Macabre. And of course, Envy got another look-in because it's rad.

What are your favourite green eyeshadows?

And the winner is.....

Holy crapola.... there were over 688 valid entries! Anyway, the internet pixies at random.org picked:

Jessi M from Lacquered, Painted, Polished! I'll be hitting Jessi up with an email now. If she doesn't respond in 24 hours, I'll pick another winner.

Smokey Barry M and Inglot LOTD

Sorry for the lame post title - I'm not creative in that respect. Maybe I should start spoofing my LOTD titles and name them things like 'Browness of Despair' and 'Immortal Goddess of Duchromia,' or summink.

Anyway, it's been too long since I pulled out my Barry M shadows so I used two of them today. I've switched venues at work and I don't have to get up so early, so I have a little more time/mental clarity to do my makeup now.

Flat hair is flat, dodgy liner is dodgy.
Eyes: Lid, Barry M Dazzle Dust in no 39 'Tan,' Outer V/lower lashline, Barry M Dazzle Dust in no 102 'Burgundy Noir.' Crease Inglot matte 357, highlight Inglot matte 351. Maybelline One by One mascara, Collection 2000 24/7 Extreme Liner pen.
Lips: Darling Girl Hologloss in 'Gold Finger'
Cheeks: Beauty Uk Baked Blush in 'Peaches and Cream,' Sleek 'Pan Tao.'

Burgundy Noir is the most beautiful colour - a burgundy-purple over a black base with a strong gold shift. It looks different however you apply it and it's really beautiful! I want to re-swatch all of my Dazzle Dusts (I did it when I first started blogging) and try to do them justice!

MUA Pretty Pastels Palette: Looks and Swatches

Makeup Academy recently came out with a Professional range (which to my annoyance appears to be in no physical Superdrug in my vicinity) which included - shock! gasp! swoon! - palettes for £4. Four measly squid! I like a lot of the £1 MUA range, so when I bought some of the Professional range online to send to Wendy I couldn't resist picking up one to try myself.

I went for the Pretty Pastels palette, as I don't really have many pastel colours in my collection, but at that price I'm sure I'll end up catching them all! You get 12 colours in a pan and each one is 20p sized (but er, round.) Compared to, say, a Sleek palette, the packaging isn't as sturdy or fancy looking, but it's minimal (there's often a danger of tweeny packaging at low prices and there's none of that here - I love the fact this is grown up, affordable makeup), functional (I've slung it in my bag with no problems), and I like that you can see the colours.

Click for biggerness.

Top row, L-R. Top row on bare skin, bottom row over NYX JEP in Milk.
Bottom row, L-R. Top row on bare skin, bottom row over NYX JEP in Milk.

Compared to the swatches I've seen of the other palettes, these do seem to be a bit more sheer, but of couse they are pastels. The pigmentation on some is pretty good, such as that lovely orange and the champagne colour from the bottom row. I only wish the top left hand cream, which has a lovely pink shift showed up more - it's gorgeous but very little payoff. Work on that one and bring out a full size please, MUA!

Let's have a butchers at them on the eye then, shall we?

Great for a quick, subtle neutral look...

...or a work safe rainbow?! Yes?! It totally is, right?

All in all, a bargain for four quid! Although a couple of the colours could have better pigmentation, but there are also some beauties here. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of the palette, especially for transitionary/blending shades, and I'm sure I'll pick some more up soon - I've got my beady eye on Dusk Till Dawn!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Wall-E

Vijaya is giving me some awesome characters! This week I got Wall-e, the cutest robot ever, and I gave her King Louie, the orang-utan from The Jungle Book. I'm so happy I got Wall-e, I love how expressive the animators made him considering he only really has 'eyes,' and they're in a fixed shape.

Eyes: Lid, matte yellom from Sleek Circus. Crease, lower lashline, Fyrinnae STFU. Blended above crease, light brown from MUA Pretty Pastels. Highlight, matte cream from W&W Lush palette. Liner, Barry M Silver Black mixed with Inglot Duraline. Waterline, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero.
Cheeks: Beauty UK Baked Blush in Peaches and Cream
Lips: Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Romantique.

It was hard to choose colours for this look, as sometimes he's all rusty and neglected and then he gets a clean up later. I decided to go for a a bit of both. I really wanted to make a big deal of having bolts along the lashline, but it's really hard to do detail on foiled eyeshadow!

Thanks for reading, now go check out the King of the Swingers!

Shopping your stash: Sleek Sparkle Palette LOTD

Tsunimee/Liloo asked me if I'd do a makeup challenge for her - using a neglected eyeshadow palette! Now, I have a lot of these and they're mostly all Sleek as I have about ten bajillion of them now. I've been wanting to pull the Sparkle palette out for a while but as I've not had time in the mornings to deal with cleaning up dark fallout, it's not got much love for a long time. I reached for it today and here's what I came up with:

Eyes: Lid, Sleek Tinsel, Sleek Starlight, Sleek Dream Maker. Liner, crease and lower lashline (over Ulta Glitter Eye Pencil in Purple), Sleek Festive. All from Sleek Sparkle Palette. Highlight, matte pink from Wet & Wild Lust Palette.
Cheeks: Beauty Uk Baked Blusher in Peaches and Cream, Almay blush in 130 Peach.
Lips: Too Faced Glamor Gloss in Pillow Talk

A big thanks to Liloo for making me use some of my stash! I really need to pull this palette out more often as I adore that purple. Go and see what Liloo came up with here!

A few Darling Girl pretties

Recently, I did a UK CP* for Susan, the owner of Darling Girl cosmetics, and in return she sent me some beautiful bits and pieces which I really wanted to share with you all.

'Stay Beautiful' Kiss Me Tinted Lip Balm
You see that, guys?! Stay Beautiful. That's me, that is! Susan said she didn't know what to send me, so she made me something! Eeeee! Not going to lie... did well up a wee bit! It's a lovely orange-coral with a subtle purple/violet shift. Anyway I'm totally showing off but it's on the site now.

'Wisteria Cloud', 'Flush.'

Wisteria Cloud on lid, Flush over black liner.

I've not tried D.G. glitters before, but this one is really pretty! Both of these colours are gift with purchase colours so I don't think they're available. Boo. Darling Girl always have a GWP for purchases over $10 which I think is pretty awesome.

 'Charming Coral', 'Candy.'

'Charming Coral', 'Candy.'

Looking for a reddish coral blush? *points* There's one right there. I was going to do face swatches but I have some more DG blushes coming in the post and I'm going to do a mega post on them all when they arrive as I think they deserve one, as well as a holo gloss review.

If you've not tried Darling Girl before, I think it's an excellent first time stop for people who are new to indie makeup because there's such an awesome range. Check out the collab channel I'm part of, The Makeup Heroes , because there's a lot of Darling Girl love there right now.

Toodles!

*CP = Custom Purchase. I.e., if I wanted a custom purchase of American drugstore items, I'd send a willing blogger the cash for the products I wanted, plus shipping.

Quickie Reivew: Volume Flash Mascara x 10 Extreme Black

I gots a bit of a giveaway goin' on over here....

Sorry, Rimmel. I love your eyebrow pencils like, a billion, but I will forever hate you for somehow sucking me in to buying this crappy, crappy mascara. I've long given up believing anything any company says about mascara, but srsly? "No clumps?"

Wow, that's a hot mess right there. Alright, well, let's give it a go anyway.

Wooooooah. That's only 2 coats, believe it or not. Alriiiighty... well, let's wipe the wand off on a tissue - the tube doesn't have a 'grabber' in the neck on the wand so a lot of product comes out - and see if that makes a difference....

 Wow. That's diaperesque, no?

And still that wand just grabs the product! Bloody hellfire. What does it look like on the eye now?

After all that.... very meh. Volume Flash Extreme, meet The Bin.

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Dory

Have you checked out my 500 follower giveaway yet? It's got nice things in it!
Vijaya gave me Dory from Finding Nemo to do this week! I gave her Rafiki from The Lion King to do... I wanted to pick a less obvious one for her and I really can't wait to see what she did with the colours! I took my character pretty literally, which is why it's only on one eye - I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out! Not a wearable look at all... and is it wrong I REALLY love all the yellow on the lower lashline? Dory is a Blue Tang with short term memory loss... she can speak Whale, read English and is generally awesome:

All fish should have freckles! am I right or am I right?

Blues, yellow and white for highlight: All 120 palette.
Black: Barry M Dazzle Dust in black, mixed with Inglot Duraline
Glitter patch: Sleek Dip It in Carribean
Collection 2000 Extreme 24/7 mascara in blue

For a pretty quick job, I really like how this turned out! I wish I was able to get the lines underneath my eye thin, but I have find lines there and I don't think that tugging on them to do a look inspired by a fictional tropical fish is any way to elimate them ;)

Please go check out Vijaya's look, and wish me luck as I fear she'll give me something evil to do next week!
