blueblueblueblueblue

So I sat down to do my make-up yesterday, all inspired by the lovely Cydonian at Turtle Beauty who did a gorgeous violet look a couple days ago. I'm not sure what happened but I came out looking like Barbie on crack, but I *think* in a good way!

Eyes:

Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk
Barry M Dazzle Dusts in 20 Baby Blue, Pearly Mauve and Violet (can't remember numbers)
MUA eyeshadow in 9
NYX White Pearl single Eyeshadow
Darkest shimmery blue from 120 Palette
Palest colour from Sleek Bohemian to blend out
Primark Foiled Again Foil Liner in Aqua Horizon
Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Liner in Black
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero (waterline)
Navy from Sleek Bohemian (over Zero on waterline)
Lancome Hypnose Mascara
Matte brown from 120 palette for brows

Lips:
Clarins something-or-other, I don't know where it has migrated to at the moment!

Face:
Revlon ColourStay
Lily Lolo Mineral Bronzer in South Beach
Benefit Moonbeam
Sue Moxley Translucent Powder

Brushes:
Mac 219
Mac 217
Mac 227
Mac 187 (for foundation, <3)
Bare Escentuals Precision Liner Brush (<3)
Kent Contour Socket Brush
Kent Countour Blush Brush
Kent Angled Eyebrow Brush

Also at the moment I am loving my Bare Escentuals Quick Change Brush Cleanser:

I am a bad person who doesn't wash her brushes as much as she should, so this is a miracle for me. You just spray it on a tissue, give your brush a quick swipe and its nice and clean between shampoos! And it smells yummy.

Is anyone else taking part in MUG's Christina Aguilera challenge? Again, I have an overly ambitious idea :S Let's see how that works out!

Love and kisses x

Very Pink LOTD (and moar brushez!)

My fiance is amazing for giving me more creative ideas, but not so much when it comes to my everyday make-up. Sitting in front of my mirror, I asked him what I should put on this morning, and he replied: 'Errr.... pink?'

So I had to wear my Viva Glam Gaga. What a pity!

Eyes:
UDPP
Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk
MAC Gesso
Palest shade from Sleek Bohemian (under brow)
Barry M Dazzle Dusts in No 58 Candy, Candy Floss and LED1 Neon Pink
Lancome Hypnose Mascara

Lips:
Gaga ooh la la

Face:
Revlon ColorStay in Buff (or something)
Lily Lolo Mineral Bronzer in South Beach
MEMEME Beat the Blues Highlighter in Sunbeam
Brushes:
Mac 219
Some POS flat shader brush from Superdrug
Elf Studio Powder Brush
MAC 187

Speaking of my lovely fiance:

This is us Christmas Day 2008 :) <3

Anywayanyway. My mum got me like, £100 of feelunique.com vouchers for my birthday, so I ordered loads of stuff! Annoyingly, they've all be coming through in seperate packages. I got Lancome Hypnose two days ago, a Lily Lolo bronzer yesterday (which I love - its like a dark peach, a perfect colour for me as I am *not* a St Tropez-tan kind of girl, I just like to not look dead sometimes - I said sometimes, Makeup Zombie) and two brushes today! And I have three other parcels at the bloody post office! SEND THEM ALL AT ONCE!

This is the Bare Escentuals precision liner brush. I don't know why I bought it as I don't own any gel eyeliners, but I just wanted it. The handle is really short, shorter than my index finger. I'm pretty gangly of finger but it's short! Anyway, the bristles are super stiff, I can't wait to use it!

And thats the Kent Contour Blush brush. I ordered a few brushes from Kent and I'm really excited to use them. Kent makes fancy hair and shaving brushes ('By appointment to the Queen' sort of thing) and it seems that make-up brushes are a new venture for them. I was really hoping to get thier Socket Defining brush, which looks like fat MAC 219 today, but I'll have to wait till tomorrow. Stupid postman.

Love and impatient kisses,

Robyn x

I am going to kill Bill

Some Kill Bill inspired make-up for you today! Its going to be irregular, but I'm going to do a film inspired look from time to time. I have a few ideas - Labyrinth, Meg from Disney's Hercules - but please leave a comment on this post if you'd like to see my take on your favourite film :)

Now, I had it in my head that the suit Uma Therman wears in the movie has a checkered stripe down the side of it, like a NY cab, and it doesn't, but I realised that once I had already started. I had in my head that she drives a taxi too, when I know full well it's the Pussy Wagon. Whatever. It's *inspired* y'all.

As always, never as good as it looks in my head but here it is!

The checkerboardness is odd. Its very hard to paint it on your eyes, especially because mine have quite a lot of fold in them, so up close at certain angles, it looks really messy when at others it looks perfect. It took me sooooooo long to do as well!

I used:

Eyes:
UDPP
Nyx jumbo pencil in Milk
Yellow from Sleek Bohemian Palette
MAC e/s in Gesso
Nyx single e/s in White Pearl
Bright yellow and mustard shadows from 120 palette
Collection 2000 Fast Strokes liquid eyeliner in black applied with MAC 210 brush
Collection 2000 Volume Sensation Mascara (lost my Telescopic when I was pissed the other night :S)

Lips:
Maybelline Moisture Extreme Liner in 80 Red
Nyx Round lipstick in Fire
Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Scream (inner corners)
Collection 2000 Pure Gloss in Icing

Face:
Revlon Colourstay 150 Buff
Sleek Contour Palette in Light
120 e/s as blush
Sue Moxley transluscent powder
Mixture of Barry M Cherry Red and Black Dazzle Dusts with Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Royal Red

Brushes:
217
219
210
227
Elf Studio Powder Brush (foundation)
Elf Studio Blush Brush (contour)
187 (blush)
Barry M powder brush (must throw this POS out)
Celia Birkwell angled brush (for the 'blood')

Do people care what I've used? I personally like seeing what people have used, mostly because when you look at a look, you don't really realise how many products people use, and I think its good to see where people use high and low end brands, too.

Anyway, much love and kisses, and a big welcome to my new followers!

Robyn xxx

P.S: I got my 'Makeup your mind' by Francois Nars book last night and it is fantastic! Each page is a before and after shot, with a clear layer that goes over the after shot showing you what products go where and what they are. Its such a beautiful book, I'll do a full review if people want.

omgyay!!!!

So I went to MAC today... first time evaaar! I had my little list with me and after being served by a lovely helpful (I mean hot) guy I came out with:

Yay! I got vouchers for my brithday and I'm so happy, no way could I have afforded that on my own! I know its not a massive or exciting haul but I am very happy.

The brushes are:

-210. Thin eyeliner brush. Got this because I'm fed up of applicators that come on liquid liner. You can never get a thin line or do detail work.
-219. Pencil brush. Everyone in the world told me to get this, so I did. I've literally been gagging to get my grubby little paws on one of these!
-217. Blending brush. Not the shape I was expecting! Its kind of flat, where I was expecting something rounder. Excited to use it now!
-227. Large fluff brush. Leesha of xsparkage calls this the 'magic brush.' The MUA at MAC said it would be great for higlighting, though I bought it with the eye area in mind. I love this brush already, its so cute!
-187. Er....face brush! Again, this is a lemming thing. I cannot wait to try it for blush, it feels so nice on my face. Mmm :)
-224. Tapered blending brush. I don't remember asking for this one but I guess I must have! This is what I was expecting the 217 to look like.

I got Gesso eyeshadow but its pretty boring so no swatches. Its matte, its white, pigmentation is decent. Onto the good stuff... of course, I got Viva Glam Cyndi:

Sigh, I LOVE this! Love it love it love it. Was worried neither lipstick suited me but I bought them anyway. I felt guilty spending £160 on makeup so buying the Viva Glam lipsticks made me feel a bit better about myself! (I presume you all know, but all the profits from MAC Viva Glam products go to people suffering with AIDS and HIV.) I wouldn't have normally paired it with the e/s I have on in this picture, its just a lil swatchyswatch. Anyone got any ideas what I could wear with it?

And I bought Gaga too!

...Does this suit me? I don't know! Please tell me what you think. Also, WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME HOW GOOD THESE THINGS SMELL?! Gorgeous vanilla scent! And they feel soooo creamy!

I'll get back to you on how these brushes work out for me soon. I'll have a lot of brush reviews and comparisons coming up soon because I am waiting for the postman to bring me:

-Kent Angled Contour Brush
-Kent Definition Socket Line Brush (looks like a fat 219!)
-Kent Angled Eye Countour Brush
-Kent Angled Eyebrow Brush
-Bare Escentuals i.d Precision Liner Brush
-Tigi Beadhead The Love brush

As well as Lancome Hypnose Mascara, Lily Lolo blush and bronzer and Bare Escentuals Quick Change Brush Cleanser. Oh! Also the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual, Makeup your Mind (I think this is the NARS book), a Marie Claire book and another makeup book which I can't remember. I love having a birthday!

And my outfit today:

This is very girly for me but OMFGITSTOOHOT. So here it is. Don't know where the dress is from, my Dad bought it for me while we were out one time. The top half of the back of the dress is a big bow, so it has a little cutout area above where your bra goes. The belt which I freakin' adore is from a vintage store in Vancouver which I really miss - it was so awesome.

And lastly the look I rocked for my birthday:

I wish I could have had proper victory rolls, but I can NEVER do them when I am actually going out, only when I'm muching about. I wore a huge 1950s-style a-line dress which is bright pink with l'il poodles on it! We went to All Star Lanes which is an amazing retro bowling alley with a diner and a cocktail bar. Everything was amazing. I love bowling but I hate chavs (chavs are... well, rowdy, rough delinquent, people who look like this) they and this place was very chav-free. And I had the best damn chilli I've ever put in my mouth. There's a few sites across London so check them out!

Sorry for the long post today!

Love and Kisses,

Robyn xxx

Big hair, little bows, massive hangover

Ugh. There are Doritos on my carpet and I have to bake a 'Sorry I got so twatted' cake. Totally my own fault but I am suffering.

Anyway... my nails:

As always, I haven't cleaned my nails up before I took the photo!

And my makeup from last night:

I did this super quick so it wasn't amazing. I was feeling OTT, hence the hair and the lashes. £2 from Primark! Amazing! My earrings are Topshop.

Off to curl up and die now. No love or kisses from me today - I don't want to subject anyone to my rankness right now.

Love, peace, and MAC

Today I am 23 years old. And I feel it! So much has changed for me in the last few years that being twenty seems a lifetime ago. I've finished school, got engaged, lived in Canada for a year, and moved to London. I've had some pretty crushing times and some super amazing times. I still don't feel like a grown up though!

Yesterday my friends at work who I love to pieces all gathered round to sing Happy Birthday for me and presented me wiiiiith:

That is £80 of MAC-y goodness! I'm also getting MAC vouchers from my non-work friends so I will be buying a lot of lovely things! I - wait for it - own nooooo MAC items, and have never been able to afford a MAC shop proper so I'm happy I can treat myself to some nice brushes. And aren't the birthday cards cute?

The mailman also brought me my 66 lip palette:

:O I know, right? I haven't had a proper play but this stuff looks pretty good!

And finally, another Acid look for you:

So, I might not be around for a while. I'm home today and tomorrow, out partying thursday and friday and off to visit friends in Bristol on Saturday and Sunday! Sure I won't be able to stay away - you guys NEED to see the dress I have for this weekend! - but have a fabulous week!

Lots and lots of geriatric love and kisses,

Robyn xxx

Edit: I am now also £100 up on feel unique vouchers and the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual is winging its way to me too!

Four looks for you all!

This was the look I did after I did my 'Dark Carnival' look. I was going to go really natural, until I accidentally put my brush into this fablous blue colour!

Its just a 120 colour, but almost two rows of my palette were covered in pink pigment that I spilt and I just never bothered to clean it up, and that was one of the ones I accidentally swiped. So I discovered some new colours!

Can you guess who inspired this look? Alex at makeupbyoe. I love this nasty redhead girl! The look I (badly) copied is here! I wanted to try a heavy bottom liner look without looking like a bad teenage goth, and then I remembered her post. Should have done more liner on top, but oh well.

A really simple light gold pin-up, using Sleek Storm palette. The lipstick in the second photo is 'Kiss Me' by Rimmel, and omgyouguys, it is amazing. Its a superbright coral. I'm been wanting it ever since I saw it on RaeRae, and even more when I realised it looked a biiiit like Beyonces lipstick in the Telephone video, so when I saw Rimmel had three-for-two, I got it! I also got Soft Coral (it's a soft coral colour :|) and Vintage Pink which is a lovely soft mauve.

I finally got Sleek Acid and I loooove it! I take back everything I said about thier mattes! This was inspired by the lovely Jangsara's recent acid look, which I didn't look at while I was doing my makeup which might explain why they look nothing alike!

I hope tomorrow I have time, but I want to try the make-up from Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed video. I've never tried to copy a celebrity video look before and I'd like to give it a go.

If not, I won't be posting much. Tuesday is my birthday and I have most of the week off visiting friends and family. If they give me pennies I'm sure I'll have some haul posts soon! :P

Love and kisses,

Robyn xxx

Up above the streets and houses

So today I did two looks. I didn't like the first one, took it off, didn't like the second one.

Oh well, here they are anyway!

Yep, I did a rainbow look! Just because I'd never done one before. It was only ok, I didn't have an orange that matched the texture of my other shadows very well. It looked ok in the end but I'm going to meet my boyfriend and I thought he might like something a bit less.... clowny.

So I did this:

Now I know it looks ok (I used my new MUA duochrome shadow that I didn't swatch yesterday over NYX's Milk and Black Bean) but I tried about five times to put false lashes on today (he has decided he likes falsh lashes, which means I have an excuse to wear them now! :D) and it just wasnt happening, so I don't like it. Yes I'm being silly, no, I don't care.

My Outfit Of The Day: Primark tank, Volcom skirt. You can't see but I'm wearing embroidered chinese slippers with pink roses on for shoes, and cuuute little earrings with Sailor Jerry type swallows on. Now I'm going to add a black cropped cardi, navy military jacket and pale blue Alexander McQueen-style scarf. Speaking of AMcQ, that loooovely perfume bottle there is MyQueen perfume, which I have run out of but I adore.

Yay or nay on OOTD?

Love and kisses,

Robyn x

MUA: Make Up Academy: £1 makeup! Swatches and initial review

So today I went to see if my local Superdrug had the new MUA range, where everything is just a quid! Well, they did! I was really excited because I heard they had neon glitter eyeliners, and they do! They have a purple and a highlighter yellow, but unfortunatley the applicators were total horse sh*t. The colours were pretty so I might go back and get them to use as face/body glitter. Anyway, I wasn't expecting to actually like anything after going for those liners first, but I ended up buying five things. I got two lipsticks, one gloss tube and one gloss wand and one pressed eyeshadow.

I was pretty impressed with the eyeshadows. Some were fairly sheer when I swatched them, but there were some nice colours, including a couple of really pretty greens, and I'm sure over a base they'd look great. I only got one shadow because most of the colours were similar to ones I had already. I got shade 9, which is a violet-blue duochrome, and has been compared to MAC Stars and Rockets. Now, I didn't take a picture of this, but Lipglossiping has a great picture of it here as well as her thoughts on the line. Now, I haven't used this shadow yet, but when I swatched it, it felt smooth and looked pigmented, so hopefully it'll blend nicely. You also get 2g of product, which for a pound is excellent. I'll wear the one I bought later, and see how it goes.

Now, onto the lip products. I bought two lipsticks, shade 3:

Shade 3 is a lovely raspberryish colour. This applies quite nicely, and feels ok on the lip. Not too slippery or sheer feeling, but not drying either. Nothing compared to my beloved NYX Round, however. I've only swatched it, so I can't say how long this is going to wear, but I think it'll be okay. This one smells sherberty, which I love, though I know some people will hate it.

And shade 12:

Shade 12 is a gorgeous peachy-pink with glitter shot through it. Gorgeous as it is, it feels horrible on the lips. Not so horrible that I wouldn't wear it, the glitter just feels quite gritty. Its not sharp, however, and I've only ever worn cheap-o glitter lipsticks, and they've all felt gritty. When I first went to apply it, it wouldn't go onto my lips. It was like there was a wierd coating on the lipstick. I rubbed it on my hand and then it applied fairly nicely. I'll bet you my Irregular Choice shoes this lipstick doesn't wear very long at all though. And even though I am in love with this colour, BLURGH. It smells like bloody fibreglass. Rank.

When I first saw these I immediatley though they looked exactly the same as my beloved NYX round lippies, and got super excited in case they were the same with different packaging. Anyway, when I got them home I saw they weren't. Also, the packaging of the MUA is pretty poor quality. One on the inside-twisty-uppy bits, which is silver, slid off, and the bottom part which shows the colour on the other ones kind of turns. Still, the packaging is pretty nice, and I love that I can just store the lippies upside down and grab which shade I want without having to go take all the tops off because the shades are just bloody numbers! (I HATE that, I have no memory for numbers at all.)

Onto the lip glosses:

This is shade 2, which comes with a wand. In the tube, it looks a gorgeous glittery red. I wasn't expecting much pigmentation with this one and I was right. This pic is a little washed out, but not much. Its quite thick and sticky, so it should wear ok. This one smells too, and has a bit of a cheap-makeup-taste, but again, its a personal thing. The packaging for this one is actually really stylish (see link at bottom of this post) and it comes with a doefoot applicator which I really like. You get 2.8ml, which is about standard for this type of packaging, I think.

This is shade 5, which in the tube is a warm bright pink with gold glitters. YOU GET 14ML OF THIS. 14ml for £1! I hate squeezy lip gloss tubes, but I am forgiving this one. Again, the pigmentation isn't amazing, again, it smells. But lookit over the shade 12 lipstick:

That is definitely £2 worth of pretty.

Pros:

-£1!£1!£1!£1!
-Some gorgeous colours
-Some great pigmentation for the price
-Some lovely sweet smells
-Some great looking packaging.

Cons:

-Don't seem to be available in all Superdrugs
-Packaging is of varying quality, also they are sellotaped up like nobodies businnes
-Quality of range varies immensely.
-Some freaking rank smells.

Would I repurchase?:

Overall, this line is a bit hit-and-miss. But, they were a pound, and you get what you pay for. The lipsticks don't compare to my NYX, the glosses don't compare to other glosses I like such as Loreal Glam Shine or Borjouis glosses. Some colours are super pretty, and if you're on a budget its an ideal range. I'm sure I'll be picking a few more bits up, and I'm pleased with what I bought for the price. I'll certainly use everything I got.

If you can't find the range, you can buy online here :) Hope this was helpful to someone!

Love and smelly kisses,

Robyn xxx

Drag-inspired 'Dark Carnival' Look

Was feeling a wee bit creative today!

I can't do the arabic under-eye liner! My crease colour would not blend! And I need sooo much more practice using falsies underneath my eye. And I wanted to do some fishnet blush but I couldn't find a fishnet! But I really liked this look! I feel quite sexy and evil.

I never list everything I used, but it was a lot today so I thought I would:

Eyes:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean (lid)
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (inner corner)
Barry M Dazzle Dust in Storm Cloud (brows, crease)
Sleek Palette Black eyeshadow (wing, waterline)
NYX single eyeshadow in White Pearl (inner corner, highlight)
Barry M Glitter Dust in Silver (inner corner, over Carmex)
Barry M Dazzle Dust in Lavender
Purple from 120 Palette (the kind of MAC Star and Rockets/UD fishnet looking one)
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero (waterline)
Collection 2000 Fast Strokes Liner in Black
Rhinestones off eBay
No-name lashes from beauty supply shop (upper lid)
Boots No. 7 Lashes in Punk (lower lid)

Face:

Revlon Colourstay in... Beige? I dunno.
Sleek Contouring Palette in Light
NYX Pearl Mania in Pearl

Lips:

Barry M lip Paint in 136 Golden Bronze
Barry M Dazzle Dust in Lavender
Collection 2000 clear gloss
Benefit High Beam (above Cupids bow)

Whew. Now I need to wipe it all off before work!

Would you like to see some more crazy looks, or just my everyday looks?

Love and kisses,

Robyn xxx
