Oldie But Goodie: Sleek Original Palette

I’ll be the first to admit that I really neglect my Sleek palette. I pulled The Original out of my drawers a couple of weeks ago having not touched it for a long time and have actually got a pretty decent amount of use out of it since then. And it really is a fantastic palette:

The standard Sleek black in this palette is pretty poor; Although I did do this swatch with fingers on bare skin and it adheres to a brush much better, it’s still a bit difficult to work with. The gold has an odd texture as well, but other than that, the rest of the colours are really really smooth and easy to work with. Bear in mind this palette is more than a year old, so they may well have changed since then! I think if you’re a colour fan, this palette is amazing and full of awesome jewel-toned goodness, but the coppers and khaki/olives mean you can easily incorporate it into work looks and whatnot.

And just in case you haven’t seen it yet, I love love love this recent tutorial by Nic with the palette!

Mmmmm, Pixiwoo.

What are your “oldies but goodies”?

  1. I got the original and the storm palette a long long time ago too, often neglected, but never forgotten! I remember I bought them on offer in Superdrug when the company relaunched and I picked them up because they said 'mineral' eye shadow on them, which I hadn't seen in a drug store range before that! For me an oldie but a goodie is something from a collection of stargazer eye shadows that I still have, any of their loose powder shadows or the pressed powder shadow in eggplant. This still has the price sticker from the much missed South Molton Street Drug Store -£1.75!

  2. Love the second look. I really neglect my loose shadows the most, just cos palettes are so much easier to use.

  3. I actually like the black from the Original. If I'm after a black I go to that one first rather than any of my other Sleek palettes (because I obviously have no need to own any other blacks!). I think the one in the Mediterranean palette was really sub-par. An oldie but goodie that I neglect is probably my Barry M Dazzle Dusts... I do have some really nice ones but I don't use them enough.

  9. This palette is very versatile, you've created a great variety of looks with it! I especially enjoy the two looks with the olive green shadow in them.
