Be prepared for me to yabber on for about ten years, becase FINALLY, the bloody Sleek iDivine Circus palette got released. After traipsing round west London like a mentalist because soooomeone *cough* Kat *cough* managed to get it early, I went skipping down early to Superdrug yesterday to snatch it up before everyone else did. (There were loads there, cementing the opinion that us beauty bloggers can get a bit batshit over that much colour for a fiver.) If by any chance you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, or aren't that Sleek-savvy, my review of some of the permanent palettes is here.
Anyway, here it is!
With flash:
Swatchies on bare skin, no flash:
Um. That chartreuse. I want to eat it. I am so glad its in my life.
I didn't swatch the black, because its black, and I didn't swatch the white. If you've got the Acid palette, you'll know its very sheer. I don't mind this, as I like a sheer white for a highlight, but I'd have sacrificed it happily in a nanosecond if they'd put in another shimmery pink, say. But how pretty? I was very lacking in good pinks before, so now I'm happy as a clam.
So whats it like? Well, the mattes seem to have better payoff overall than in previous palettes. I wasn't overly impressed with the lilac colour, but I wasn't unimpressed. The texture of the shadows seems a little harder than previously palettes, particularly the mattes, which is good - I broke one of my Bohemian shadows the other day. (I actually screamed, which wasn't embarrassing at all when my missus came running up the stairs.) None of the shadows have the odd chuky texture you got before in some of the other palettes, either. Everything else previously said about these palettes applies - they're darn good. Great pigmentation, great price. I know some people will bitch about the packaging, but sheeet, you're buying a palette called Circus and you're moaning about the colour? Really?!
One other thing to mention is that I'm sure people will be PO'd about the yellow. at first glance, I thought it was the same as the yellow from the Bohemian palette. But Sleek is up to their old trick of making almost-the-same-but-not-quite colours again:
I know this picture sucks, but irl, the Circus yellow is slightly warmer, I think, and more pigmented. I prefer the Circus one and I was very enamoured of the Bohemian yellow so I'm a happy bunny.
Anyway anyway anyway, here is my first Circus look!
I used the yellow on the lid, with the chartreuse in the crease and lower lashline, with the shimmery dark purple on the outer V, and the top-right-hand purpley-pink on the..inner outer V.
One more thing! Sleek have promised to name their shadows, and well, they haven't. They promised a blogger would do it at the release, or something, but I can't find the names. So I reallllly wanted to have a go:
Top row, L-R: Sequins, Cooch tent,Aerial, Peanuts, Soleil, Dog and Pony,.
Bottom row, L-R: Freakshow, Bearded Lady, Crackerjack, Casey Junior, Water for Elephants, Tiger Tamer.
Will you be getting the palette?
Love Ring Leader Robyn x

ReplyDeleteohh gawwdd... i love it!! and i cant get it anywhere near meee :(
ReplyDeleteHey Robyn! I'm glad you finally got your hands on the palette! It's rubbish that you had a mission to get it though - I had the same thing when I was a bit late catching onto Graphite and had to resort to eBay in the end! I love the look you've done with Circus, I haven't had a chance to play with mine too much yet, but looking forward to it :))
ReplyDeleteKat x
I will quite possibly be traipsing around London soon myself trying to track one down. My local store never stocked the Bohemian palette as far as I could tell. I need it in my life!
ReplyDeleteLove the look! So jealous of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd cooch tent seriously made me lol. I don't know why... but it did. I like the names too!
This is gorgeous! I love the look that you did.
ReplyDelete@MatthewLX: Awesome, I can't wait to see what you come up with so I can steal the looks!
ReplyDelete@Sparklezandshine: Ditto what I said for Matthew, I think some of the colours in here will be lovely on you!
@MethadonePretty: Don't talk to me about fucking Royal Mail. Just be glad its not Canada Post (omg D:)
@Nicoletta: Thats what blogging is for, haha!
@Heather: Shut up! You have NYX and Milani and Wet and Wild and non-extortionate shipping to get all that stuff! I miss Crackerjack. Nomnomnom and shitty little stickers? Win!
@Dreams That Glitter: I couldn't wait either, I bought it in the morning, went to work, got home at about 11 o'clock at night and was swatching it all in bed! I can only describe the look from my bf as 'withering!'
@Marie: Thanks girl! I like your new profile pic :)
@Lillian: I know exactly what you mean. I wasn't sure if I was going to get it because I'm a bit skint at the moment and then I realised... its Circus. Circus MAKE UP. No brainer, get it :)
@Miss Tat: Where are you? Its available online.
@Kat: I missed Graphite too. I know you can get it on eBay still... is it worth it? I kind of want it still.
@juliannelefay: I'm very lucky to have two Superdrugs in my vicinity and two by my work! I still couldn't find Bohemian for ages and I found one rogue one randomly in Portsmouth after I thought they'd taken it off the shelves forever!
@Cydonian: Its because you're childish!
@Rebecca: Thankyou! I was very tempted by all the pinks but yellow makes me excited for some reason so thats what I went with!
not sure I 'll buy this one ...so much make up , I need to shop my stash before putting this lovely in a cart on an internet shop that's gonna charge me horrendous shipping fees ....
ReplyDeleteSometimes life is hard hahah
Caro resisting resisting resisting xxx
Ok so I need this. I'm going to go and get it, FINANCES BE DAMNED. I start my new job next week anyway so fuck it.
ReplyDeleteThat chartreuse is making me dizzy.
Caro, you need to buy the things on your list before you add new stuff.
ReplyDeleteRach, you got a new job, so you need a present!
Those colors make me want to dance. That and put on a whole lot of makeup.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we don't get Sleek over here so I have never seen it in person.
I don't think we carry Sleek in the US but that looks amazing. Great pictures. xx
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA. I love YOUR names and that palette. I think sometime we need to do a swappy swap my love.
ReplyDelete@schmut and Ansa: They do ship internationally but its pretty expensive so unless you're going to buy loads, its probably not worth it. Get a lovely blogger to send you some!
ReplyDelete@Zombie: I'm swapping with Cydonian soon but yeeeeeeessss, it can be arranged :D x
dang this look AMAZING
ReplyDeleteOooh I really like this! It reminds of something but I'm not sure what. Anyway, really fun and vibrant look. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your circus look! Can't wait till I come to London and can buy Sleek make up. I'm so lusting for the acid palette :D But this palette looks awesome too! x
ReplyDeleteOh I like this a lot! I've not heard of Sleek makeup yet, but now you've got me searching online! I hear you on how we bloggers will get obsessive and then suddenly we're on some adventure to buy a palette while all of our non-makeupey friends think we're nuts.
