Quickie Review: Makeup Acadamy Blushes

Sometimes I wonder whether there is any point in reviewing an item that costs a measly £1. And then I think that confronted with a huge makeup stand full of things for a quid, a lot of us will act like giddy children, drop £20 immediately only to be worried by the fact as soon as we get home, we'll inevitably be disappointed by the greasy, talc-y, unpigmented pile of crap in front of us. So yes - I think we *should* review el cheap-o items. Even if something costs nothing, it's not a bargain if it's crap!

Anyway! MUA blushes are just £1 and come in four shades.

Clockwise: Shade 1, Shade 2, Shade 4, Shade 3.

Left-right: Shade 1, Shade 2, Shade 3, Shade 4. (Unblended.)

Shade 1:

Shade 1 is a bright pink with gold shimmer particles. Warmer and less lavender based than appears here.

Shade 2:

Shade 2 is a slightly mauve-toned rose.

Shade 3:

Shade 3 is a dusky rose-apricot colour. Hard to describe - it might be a nice contour shade for pale skin if it had no shimmer in it.

Shade 4:

Shade 4 is a warm peachy shade with no shimmer particles

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Paraffinum Liquidum, Trocepherol, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Petrolatum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Parfum, Coumarin, Linalool. May Contain: +/-=:[CI 77891, Tin Oxide, CI 7749`, CI 77007, CI 15850, CI 77492.)

Normally I don't list ingredients on my blog as I have no idea what they all are and as I'm not a paraben-free type of girl, it doesn't bother me. However, I noticed a fair few ingredients that some people might not take so warmly to, so there they are.

The colours are lovely natural shades and all come with golden shimmer, except shade 4. I'd say they have medium pigmentation. Seeing as talc is the main ingredient (and it really smells like it, I have to say! Parfum? Really? Where?!), and as such they're a bit chalky, they payoff is pretty decent, although they do apply much, much better over foundation that over bare skin. They are soft and do kick up a fair bit of dust, but I've had shade 1 for months, and it's been knocking about in my handbag/makeup bag without shattering, crumbling or the lid breaking.

Would I repurchase? I surely would! Shade 4 in particular is beautiful.

  4. I love shade 4. Love it. I also have 1 and 2 I think, though I can never remember! I've always been impressed with the pigmentation and they really are a bargain! x

  5. Wow I've never heard of Makeup Academy before! I like the 3rd shade! I have something similar from Anabelle Cosmetics. I wish I could pull off the first shade though! I feel like it's more for fair skin color. Great review!
