Sometimes, the night is generous to me...

I'd like to ask you guys a teensy favour. As I mentioned in my last post I'm lacking in inspiration so I thought having a theme might give me some ideas. So would you either have a little vote or give me some ideas for a theme?

-Hogwarts
-Disney
-Comic/manga
-Couture
-Pin-up/Retro
-Celebrity
-Animals

I know these have all been done to death but I'd still like to try one! And any ideas are really welcome. Please don't ask me to do Twilight though, I may have to vom on you.



Anyway, for Makeup Geeks weekly challenge, which is comic-book themed, I decided to go with Rorschach, my favourite character from my favourite comic book, Watchmen. If you haven't read Watchmen I totally recommend it, it kicks ass. The film is good, too (awesome soundtrack) but the book blows it out of the water. The look itself was a bit of a fail, and as normal I thought "fuck this" half-way through, but here it is anyway...






The lips were supposed to be like the blood on the happy face. I wanted to do it with my OCC lip tar but thought that staining my face would be pretty bullshit. Ah well, it was fun and I got to wear a hat. I might do a yellow 1950's original Silk Spectre type look too. What do you think?

Whats that coming over the hill...?

Is it a Monster? Is it a Monsterrrr?

So I chose Monster energy drink as my soda for Make Up Geeks weekly challenge which is obviously to create a soda inspired look. If you haven't seen it, go and check it out, there's some great creative looks and some awesome colour combos.



And there it is in all its green-y goodness. I love Monster. I don't normally drink energy drinks and not even that much pop, to be honest, but I do love this energy drink. I drank a lot of it because they were giving tons of it away on the snowboarding resort I lived on for a while and it just reminds me of good times.











Eyes:

I got a parcel from Lipglossiping's blog sale this morning containing the Kryolan aqua colors I used for this look and I am in love with them already. Its nice to have some more versatile products in my kit - especially as these are going to last me for a long, long time! Charlotte is also a total doll and sent me a Kryolan supra colour for free which I was totally stoked for - I just need to work out how to use it! Either way, a very happy bunny here.

Ok... One last thing. Fast approaching 40 followers (squee) so a little thankyou giveaway is extremely imminent. However... I don't know how to go about it. What would you ask people to do or write to make it a bit more fun and different and get people interested?

Raa ra, ah ah ah....

I know I've been posting a lot but its Gaga time! Makeupgeek.com has weekly challenges on its forum and you can win prizes for best looks, and this time round the theme is Lady Gaga, yay! I love her makeup so much.

So first up is my Bad Romance look and I'll bet its not the one you're thinking of. Anyway, I hated it, it made me look scary, but I did it and it was kind of fun to do, so here it is:





Freaky huh? What do you think? I was going to paint my hair too, but I am soooooo glad I didn't it because took so long to wash all the face paint off, and its still on a load of my brushes. Taking pictures of my lips all the time is really making me self concious about my chipped tooth, too. My lips are pretty thin, so I always pout them out and you can see my teeth. I used Sleek black lipstick and an old Revlon lipstick, with white face paint. I painted some false lashes white and used Gosh Effects powder in Paradise to contour my eyes and cheeks just a little.


And on to my second look! I LOVE this one. I still have it on now. I have to go shopping which makes me upset because I have to take my brows and lashes off. Anyway, here it is:












And its obviously inspired by this MAC face chart which she wore for her Viva Glam campaign:



What do you think? I think it kind of suits me :D Also I used a purple eyeshadow in leiu of the purple blush because I obviously dont have one, and I LOVE it! I've been using my 120 palette eyeshadows as blush a lot. I used Barry M, Sleek and Loreal HIP eyeshadows, NYC lipstick in Snowcone with pigment over the top, and my new Sleek Contour kit. My lashes are by... Girls with Attitude (laaaame) and they're called Madame Butterfly. They're so long and fluttery!


And I have one more Gaga look. I did it ages ago but shall I enter it anyway? This is a response to Myeyeshadowisodd's Paparazzi Tutorial. When I did this look, I had NO eyeshadow or makeup brushes. NONE. I was using my fingers, sponge applicators and Q-tips, so I think this came out well considering. Maybe I'll re-do it! I don't remember what I used apart from the lashes, which are the Cheryl lashes from the Girls Aloud eyelure lash collection.

Late to the Party

So I FINALLY saw Avatar last night at the IMAX cinema at Waterloo. It was amazing! The CGI looked so amazing, it was like looking at the future - can you imagine when all films are that good? I was amazed at how realistic it was. If you haven't gone to see it yet, then do. It basically *is* Pocahontas, but even though the story has been done before, its still a good tale.

Even though the IMAX was brilliant, getting home at half past five in the morning from the cinema and having to get up five hours later for a ten hour shift means that doing Avatar inspired makeup is probably not the best idea:





I think it turned out a bit poopy, although my boss said she liked it! Nothing on Anastasia from Lipstick and Lightsabers Avatar look. I really should have spent some time on it, rather than trying to take pictures of it and also get out of the door. Also, Note To Self: Put mascara on before you take photos.


Anyway, I just used the blues from Sleek Sunset and Original,(whoever said people with blue eyes can't wear blue eyeshadow, you are clearly a very silly person) with Barry M white kohl eyepencil for the dots. I wish I had some white pigment, as this would have looked soooo much neater. The pencil made it very blobby and I didn't have time to clean it up. My mascara is Loreal Telescopic, which I don't think I'll be purchasing again. I am not blessed in the lash department, and I need a bit more oomph. The light blue 'wiggles'' which I realise now should probably be darker, were done with a super cheap metallic eyeliner from Primark! I got this blue colour and a gold, and they were 50p each! 50p! The brush on them is terrible, but for 50p, the product is very good indeed. For higlight I used one of those white eyeshadows that turns a sheer blue, which is a loose pigment from NYC. It was £2 and is very pretty if not that pigmented.


I also did Na'avi nails! Again, I should clean up my mess before taking pictures, but they look pretty good, and quite subtle in my opinion:




You only get one nail because they were messy, and I could not take a good photo!There's a lot more difference in the blue tones in real life. I did a white base coat, and painted the outer edges of my nails with a navy blue. I then sponged a light blue colour over the dark colour, leaving the white coming through in the middle. (These three colours were Barry M Nail Paints.)I then painted a shimmery blue colour over the top, and used striper pens for the dots and stripes.



On another note, the MUG Lady Gaga challenge? I'm all over that like Marmite on my toast. I have a killer idea, and need to go to Camden to get some lashes and maybe contacts. I just don't think I have the skill to execute it. But I'm going to try anyway!

P.S: Look out in Superdrug for cheap Gosh stuff! In a couple of my local Superdrug shops there's been stuff for £1! I got a white shimmery single eyeshadow, and two Effect Powders (in Pineapple, which is a pineapple-y yellow and.... er, another one in a taupe shade) and a few nail polishes to boot. I'm such a cheapskate, I will buy ANYTHING for a quid.

LOTD: Make Up Geeks

So here is my entry to Make Up Geeks Weekly Challenge, and the theme was a plumeria flower! I love these flowers and have one in my kitchen. I'm not expecting to win at all because there are some bloody good looks there, it was just really fun.









One day I will learn to take good pictures. I used the copper BeautyUK pencil, Barry M Dazzle Dusts in Neon Pink, Candy Floss and Orange, Barry M glitter Liner in gold, Primark Foiled Again liquid liner, Maybelline Colossal mascara, Gosh single eyeshadow in 244 and cheap no-name false lashes.

I actually did two entries, but the first one was crap apart from the lips:
