Green With Envy LOTD

Hi y’all! I’m back from my holiday – I had an awesome time snowboarding in Italy, eating lots of cake, cheese and pizza and twatting about on the mountain. Thankyou to my guest bloggers Rachael and RaeRae for holding the fort for me – please go and check out their fabby and marvellous posts if you've not already.

Todays look is for the weekly showcase that Wendi hosts in her Facebook group Never Too Much Sparkle – the theme is Green With Envy. I had some new Jessies Girl pigments from Wendy (Sheesh, how many  bloggers can I name drop in one post?!) that I hadn’t played with yet so it was a perfect excuse!

I like my face better this way. Deal with it.

Eyes: Lid,Jessie’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Majestic Green . Crease, Jessie’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Key Lime. Upper crease, Jessie’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Antique Green . Highlight, Jessie’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in . Lower lashline, Wet N Wild Colour Icon liner in Green, Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Stoic. Liner, Collection 2000 Extreme 24/7 liner in black, MUA Glitter liner.
Lips: Wet N Wild Megalast Lipstick in Ravin’ Raisin
Cheeks: Evil Shades blush in Violet Skies

I’m loving these Jessie’s Girl Pigments – cute colours and super finely milled. I’ve seen lots of people on blogs and YT using Pixie Dust as a highlight and it’s easy to see why – it’s a perfect light gold.None of my pictures really show – this look photogrpahed horribly – but I was going for a sort of double crease thing. Ah well.

What are your favourite green eyeshadows?

Lots of liner

Some days I just can’t really be bothered to faff around with primers and bases and blending in the morning, plus I have new eyeshadows that I don’t want to try out until I have the time to do them justice!

Shop your Stash: Samples!

At the start of the the week, I swore I was going to use some unloved shadow samples everyday. However, I had a couple of awful nasty early mornings, which means a mascara and lipstick day, so there’s just three looks here - I can’t deal with doing my makeup with no daylight. Anyway, a long time ago I started to store my samples in pill organisers, which I soon gave up because it just takes up way too much room. I don’t really reach for them any more, but I’m going to try because I rediscovered some gorgeous colours.

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Jane from Tarzan.

I love Disney's version of Tarzan. I will even say, without a trace of irony (or shame) that the Phil Collins soundtrack is awesome. Plus I love Jane's dress sense. I would totally wear a tie and gloves to the jungle.

Eyes: Lid, Inglot AMC 60. Inner lid and to blend lid colour, Darling Girl Mojo Jojo. Lower lashline, Inglot AMC 379. Inner lower lashline, Hi Fi Between the Stars. Liner, Inglot matte gel liners in 84.
Lips: Boots 17 Twilight Tease
Cheeks: Evil Shades Pouty and Darling Girl Yes Virginia.
Fiance says: 'You look like you've been punched in the cheek' and 'the yellow is really yellow.' I love him :D

I'm not going to say too much about this look (because Blogger already ate this post once) other than HOORAY, I love yellow, and BOO, I should have put some falsies on.

Vijaya got give Pascal from Tangled today which I cannot wait to see so go and check it out!

Looking Back: Evil Shades

Evil Shades were the first indie makeup company I bought from. I was chatting about then with the Makeup Heroes girls and I decided it was about time I dug out my favourite Evil Shades shadow, Zombie:

Pretty, huh? This is an awesome shade if you have blue eyes, as well as a great crease colour for purple looks, and a cool liner shade.

While I was digging through my stash to look for Zombie, I noticed how the packaging for Evil Shades has changed.

When I first purchased from them, the packaging was really basic....

...then, it got a little more fancy. Special collections got their own stickers and the skullerfly made an appearance! Clamshells were also introduced for samples at some point.
Lipstick labels got prettier...

...and more recently, everything has moved to this gorgeously cute little goth girl who I love! Lipsticks also come in slimmer tubes now, which is a win!

D'aww, little trip down memory lane. Just me? Okay...
Since I first purchased from Evil Shades they've come up with tons of different stuff, discontinued some old stuff and brought out loads of stuff I still need to get my butt in gear and try! If you're new to them, I'd recommend Corset, Primrose Path, Devilista and Fearless lippies, Ravishing and Atomic for blush, and Zombie, Gift River, Suffocation and Heartless Queen (an awesome red!) for shadows.

Well, I'm lemming more Evil Shades right now! You can follow Evil Shades on twitter @EvilShades6, and the store is here www.evilshades.com

Who was the first indie company you bought from? Do you still purchase from them?

Purple make me lose my mind

Up in here, up in here....Just a quick LOTD for you guys today. I think I actually wore this last Friday - I just found the photos on my computer and I used a couple of shadows that I adore, so I thought I'd show it.

Eyes:
Lid: Evil Shades Lazy Daze
Crease/lower lashline: Inglot AMC 379
Outer V: High Voltage Heavy Metal
Inner corner/ Highlight: Sugarpill Lumi

Cheeks:
Evil Shades  Pouty

Lips:
Unnamed Barry M Lip Gloss Wand (one that came with Impulse spray)

The first photo was taken as I was heading to the pub, when I added a lot of Lumi to the inner corner. I got a sample of it in a giveaway prize from Annamax and hadn't used it yet, and lord help me because now I have to buy it. Also want to give Evil Shades 'Lazy Daze'  from the LE Summer Nights collection a shout out - it's a gorgeous, slightly sheer pale lilac with a hint of green duo - YUM. I'm also loving Pouty blush - I've been looking for ages for a perfect blush to wear with purple looks that isn't too cool and I think I may have found it. And it's matte, hooray!

How do you pair your eyeshadows with blush and lip colours? Do you have 'set' combinations that you go back to, a works-for-everything product or do you just wing it?

UV Shoot

I thought I'd show you guys a few photos I've got back from a UV shoot I went on last weekend. It was quite a small shoot and I didn't do the most astonishing or well executed makeup in the world, but it was really fun. Be warned - there are some boobs in this post, but they're well covered. Sorry, pervs.

Corinna by Al Veryard

Me and a very messy table by Dark Horse Photos. Here be nudes, should you click on it.

A lovely shot of how messy I manage to make an enormous work station! It's very boring hanging around waiting for models/set up/people to make you tea and I felt very underdressed with no UV makeup on, so I switched my eyebrows while I was waiting ;)
The UV makeup I used was a combination of Kryolan Aqua Colors, Sleek Acid (not all of them are UV, just the neon green, yellow, orange and pink) Fardel paints and Evil Shades:

Forgive my dry lips, but that's Evil Shade's Fateful*. Cool huh? Their 'Backtalk' blush glows too.

That's all for now, shiny seekers!

*D'oh, it's actually Fearless, but apparently the glitter in Fateful is also UV reactive :)

Quick and Simple LOTD's

Getting up earlier in the mornings is something I've found quite hard to adjust to, so I've tended to wear simpler, more neutral eyes with a more dramatic lip in the daytime over the last couple of weeks. Despite my worrying, I haven't found wearing brighter/darker/dramatic eyes at work a real problem, but I do find flaws in these looks more obvious, so they're not my go-to if I have to get up at six.

Here's a couple of easy looks.

Eyes: E.L.F Ethereal quad
Cheeks: BeautyUK Baked Blush in Baked Peach
Lips: Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Corset

Always see nude eyes, dark lips in the magazines, so thought I'd bust it out. Yay or nay - do I need more around the eyes? I got compliments on my lipstick but I'm not sure it doesn't make me look washed out without liner. Ah well.

Eyes: Lid - Fyrinnae Damn Paladins. Crease - Wet N Wild Humid (MAC Humid dupe.)
Cheeks: BeautyUK Baked Blush in Peaches and Cream, Accessorize Merged Blusher in Pretty Pink.
Lips: No 17 Shine On Lipstick in Twilight Tease

Normally green and purple (that lippy is much more purple-based irl) is a more in-your-face combo, but I wear wearing a leopard print dress to work so I thought it best not to push it with bright purples!

Eyes: Lid - Butternut colour from E.L.F Ethereal Quad. Crease: light matte brown from Sleek Storm.
Cheeks: MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Springsheen
Lips: Morgana Cryptoria Vegan Lipstick in Coraline's Kiss

I took this at the end of the day, hence looking a little shiny. I do like using a pop of colour on the lips, with (vaguely) matching blush and keeping the eyes neutral. As a side note... why did I buy a Sheertone blush only to moan that it's sheer? Anyone's guess, really.

What are your quick fixes, and go-to looks, girls?

The one and only...

A while ago, I won a lovely little giveaway from Annamax. I was really excited when I won because one of the goodies was Frutti di Bosco by Aromaleigh!

Frutti di Bosco is a super-glittery 'grape' colour and I love it! Lovely pigmentation, applies like a dream! I sadly came into the indie make-up world too late to buy Aromaleigh and I always thought it was a shame as I know they have a place in the hearts of many beauty bloggers. (I also got two Aromaleigh glitters, Shakeitup and Spooky, from a blog sale Beauty's Bad Habit just had, so now I haz three Aromaleighs!)

A quick looks with it for good measure! If I look a bit ill, it's because I am. Whenever I'm sick and I have to go into work I always put on All The Makeup because I think if I look better, I feel better. Wrong.

Eyes:
Lid - Aromaleigh Frutti di Bosco
Crease: The two matte purples from Wet n' Wild Lust Paletee
Hightlight: Matte
Lower lashline: Lighter matte purple, Aromaleigh Frutti di Bosco

Cheeks:
Accessorize baked blusher in Pretty Pink

Lips:
Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Bane

Is there anything you really wish you'd bought when it was available?

P.S - How do you like the new blog look? I know some people hate white-on-dark, so please tell me if it's hard to read, or whatever.

Quickie Review and Swatches: Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick

I really need to give up on the 'quickie review' crap - they're never quick! I think I just like saying 'quickie.' Anyway, feast your eyeballs on the Evil Shades Deviant Lipsticks in my collection.

Silk Stockings:

The last picture captures the colour of the base well, but it shows up like the top photo normally - the sparkles/shift are a soft blue! Really awesome unusual nude.

Fateful:

Fateful is a black with purple shimmer. For a black lipstick (which are tricky buggers) this is freaking ace - no rubbing it over your lips 10,000 times to get some colour to show! The only downside is you need to wear lip liner, as you can probably see, but that's the case with all blacks I've ever tried.

Primrose Path:

Such a perfect day-to-day shade - a peachy pink with subtle green shimmer. The green shimmer makes it unusual enough that I think I'm cool, but it is very subtle and wearable still!

Devilista:

One of my favourite reds! I really think this is a knock-out shade and I like its not-too-sheeny, not-too-matte finish.

Obscurity:

A deep metallic blue. I have trouble with this one - it takes a bit of effort to apply it opaquely, but it's not like it takes ten minutes or anything.  I'm going to try it over concealed lips and see if that makes a difference.

Mage:

It's green. What more can I say? I got a sample of this with an order and I love it! *Probably* wouldn;t wear it out, but we'll see...

Bane:
Bane is a really pretty light pink with a blue shift and I think it's a nice addition to anyone's colection. The formula of this one is really light and balmy and as such is sheerer than the others. Great for layering.

Corruption:

Corruption is a metallic purple with blue glitter (you can see it if you click the bottom picture, it's more obvious in real life). A really cool and unusual shade! This is a bit of a funny one - it is pigmented, but I have to really warm it up first to get it to show on my lips. Bit odd, but once it's warmed up, it applies nicely and doesn't budge.

Corset:

A beautiful wine colour. I love these shades but often find they're too red or too black - this one has a lovely berry juiciness to it. Do you have lipsticks that whenever you put them on you make kissy duck faces at yourself? (No... just me?) Well, this is one of those lippies!

Fearless:

Errrr. How awesome is this? It's quite hard for me to describe - it's very bright but it's sort of... a neon undertone than rather than a omg-my-retinas bright. The best thing about it is it's UV REACTIVE. I can't wait to see how it glows under blacklight. Funnily enough, I don't have one knocking about to swatch it under but I will update this post soon as I've got a UV shoot coming up.

Boring word time...

What to say about these? Well, the first thing I love is the price. They're $4.25 each, so about £2.60, and they're quite often on 3-for-2, so they're a freakin' steal. They wear very well - I worse Primrose Path the other day and it lasted through a picnic and beyond, which is no mean feat, I tell you, and they're not drying, although some formulas are slightly drier than others. I'll reiterate that they're cheap as fucking chips, because I still can't get over what you get for the price.

I should also mention the packaging. Here's the new tubes:

Versus the old tubes:

The old packaging was a bit bothersome - I find it hard to neatly apply some of the colours with the big chapstick round tubes as I have a skinny upper lip (not complaining, of course, as I'm sure the packaging has a lot to do with that awesome price) but the new slimmer ones solve that problem and look pretty swish too. Love the new labels as well - look how far they've come along since the original white ones!

Have you tired these lippies? Any reccomendations?
