Darling Girl Love Week: Day One

Well, kids, it's time for another love week. Yeeeeeep, a whole darn-diddly week of Darling Girl looks. I've been holding off on this love week for a while because I don't have enough shadows compared to some other indie companies I did Love Weeks for, but the time is right now :D

Pale girls who want a matter bronzer that makes them look lightly sunkissed and alive and awake without being pink and girly, I'd try Aloha. I love it and I am a peach blush girl at heart! Cydonia is also making me swoon! I love khaki type colours and I think it's be lovely with my old friend, Fyrinnae Damn Paladins.

High Voltage Love Week: Day 6

Due to recent customer service complaints, long order waits, orders going missing and ingredient inconsitencies, I can no longer recommend High Voltage Cosmetics.
Hullo thar! Got caught in a horrrrrific downpour today, right after I'd dyed my hair. NICE. Anyway...

I wanted to do a look showing off 'Roadie' for today:

I LOVE ROADIE - what a wicked deep teal-green! I really don't think I can say anything else about this look, other than I should have done a white waterline and probably a less pink lipstick shade. Oh, one other thing - with High Voltage shadows, I prefer to use a creamy base, such as NYX pencils, rather than something sticky like Pixie Epoxy - I get a much nicer, more even payoff with them, and they're really pigmented anyway! Only one more HV day! Waaaaa :(

Fyrinnae Love Week: Day 6

Today is Dinosaur Plushie day, hooray!

Wendy asked me to use Dinosaur Plushie with a red, if I had any red Fyrinnae shadows, and as I just so happened to have Bite Me, I saw no reason not to! MakeUp Zombie also did a really cool look recently using red and purple, so I decided to throw Shinigami into the mix as Dinosaur Plushie looks really rad with purples.

Fear not, pigmentation fans - I applied Bite Me/Shinigami without using Pixie Epoxy (Dinosaur Plushie NEEDS it as it's quite sheer - and you do need to pack it on the get the lovely foil-y effect). You can see my swatches of these shades here and here.


Sob, tomorrow is the last day of Fyrinnae week and there are so many shadows I haven't given any love! AND tomorrows look is going to have to be a boring one as I have an interview! Waaaa!

Darkness! Colour! Haul!

First, some looks for you all. Then, a super awesome present from my friend!


After all my pin-up looks, even though I think I do suit less eyeshadow heavy looks, I've been gagging to do some darker, heavier shadow looks!


I had a whole bunch of glitter staring me in the face one morning...




... so I thought I would use it! Sleek black over NYX JEP in Black Bean with red glitter off of eBay. My boyfriend said this was 'pretty,' bless him! Paired this with some random Revlon neutral lippie.




I was desperate to use Hi-Fi Valentine Evenings as a lid colour, and I paired it with UD Bourbon, a shimmery deep brown from Sleek and a silver-grey from Makeup Academy. I wish I'd used black instead of grey, as VE is a bit 'woah' on its own. I think I probably wore this with Devil Horns lip lustre.







Playing with Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy... a quick look using Evil Shades Devil's Bonfire and Fyrinnae Crimson Ghost, with Hi-Fi Mornings of Gold to Highlight and on the lower lashline. Paired this with Boots Natural Collection lipstick in Rosebud, which I still think is an *amazing* lipstick for less than two squid.





I hadn't played with one of my favourite colour combos, purple and orange, for a long, long time! I used Gosh Effect powder in Pineapple (gold), Barry M orange, and Hi-Fi Another Day Another Drama with a touch of Fyrinnae Wicked. My liner sucked but it felt good to be colourful again! Paired with Barry M lip gloss wand in Toffee.





I hadn't used my Sleek Bohemian palette lately, and I saw a girl on the Sleek Facebook page make a gorgeous dark look with it, so I took the matte and sparkly cranberry-ish shades and paired them with Evil Shades Double Barrel. This didn't photograph well but I really liked it! Wore it with BM 'Toffee' again - I'm running dangerously low on this gloss, it may be only the second gloss I repurchase ever!


Anyway, now for my present! My friend Sorrell, who I work with, used to do some sort of fashion styling course, and left because it was a bit hair- and makeup -centric for her. Anyway, that worked out well for me because she bequeathed me with these bad boys:




-Double-stack Kryolan Supra and Aqua Color palettes!
-Dermacover concealer palette
-Screenface foundation palette
-Setting Powder
-Kryolan cake mascara trio
-Some pouffes and disposable spoolies n' shit


Sweeeeeet, right? The Aqua Color palette has basic, UV AND metallic shades, and the Supra colour has one tray of blues, reds, yellows, etc, and one of skin tone shades. I am so happy with these palettes, they've barely been used, either. I am soooooo stoooooked - Sorrell, if you're reading this, I am still making pterodactyl noises! I can't wait to play and explore with these so I can ensure they went to a good home!

Surpise Swap Package is Suprising :D (And some bargains, woo!)

While me and 'im indoors were heading out the door to visit some friends for the weekend a week ago, I discovered ANOTHER swap package from Wendy aka Cydonian, who is awesome and sent me more stuff, on the doormat! Yaaaay! To Jon's disgu...amusement, I took it with me and opened it walking down the road, like any of us would, I'm sure.

I didn't take a pic of it all together because I opened it walking down the street, but she sent me:

OMGWTF. Srsly girl, don't think you're getting away with this. I WILL find you equally bitching products. Anyway, behold le swatches:



Obviously the blush isn't blended at all, but loook how pretty! I see it as somewhere between bubblegum pink and coral, which is probably the most useless blush description ever, but hey.I've not worn creme blush before and its so easy to use! I also like the size of this - I rarely pack a make-up bag unless I'm going away for the weekend, and this is nice and slim while actually containing a lot of product. On the left is the Wet and Wild Cool as a Cucumber palette, which contains three shades. I adore the lightest green - I love highlight colours that are actually colours.



And thats just a really quick look with the palette - you can see how the darker green and purple are slightly greyed... lovely! I wore this palette....wait for it... two days in a row. Yeah.

The two Wet and Wild duos I'm also super impressed with:



The top two are the Tequila Sunrise duo and the bottom two are the Sky's the Limit Duo. OMG. That bronzey colour, I am informed by it's lovely sender, is similar to MAC's Amber lights. Sooooo pretty. And I was pleasantly surprised by the Sky's the Limit duo, too, though I haven't used it yet. The deeper blue is really pigmented and the lighter shade is a lot more complex than you'd think to look at it - it has a really pretty aqua sheen to it. Again, I love coloured highlight colours! I'm going to use this with my Milani liner next time I'm feeling a blue day :)



Here's another quickie with the Tequila Sunrise duo. I put the Amber Lights-y colour over Urban Decay 24/7 in Bourbon on the lower lashline - sweet, huh? - with a little MUA shadow in No 4 on my browbone. I think this duo is gonna get a lot of use.

And onto the polishes... I know plenty of UK beauty bloggers who are doing their nut wishing Claire's stocked these over yeah. Yeah, yeah, matte polishes for less than £3, whatever... These kick ass.




This is the Moody/Shy polish, which was matte before I put my top coat on. You can see the tips are darker because my nails are long and that part of them is cooler - the effect is more pronounced on longer nails. When you put your hands in hot water, the polish goes all the lighter colour but for some of the day it was so cold my nails were all the dark colour! These polishes will turn you into a total geek.



I couldn't get a picture of the Calm/Wild with its colour change, but its pretty well blogged. I thought it would be a cool idea to Konad an image in a near identical colour to the darker shade of the colour change polish, so that as your nails changed during the day, you can sometimes see the image and sometimes not. It was pretty cool :)

I also wanted to send out some thankyou's to Kat O (my little sister loves your blog, if you're reading, Kat!) and Beauty's Bad Habit for inadvertently helping me find two awesome bargain lippies. I'm not on a no-buy anymore, I am however on a low-buy, so no being silly for me.

Kat informed me that Beauty Base in Westfield London (which is where I work, sadly in a pub there and not MAC or Inglot or one of the 10,000 Benefit counters there) had a Milani stand. So when I trotted off there after work to check out what they had, I found Milani Rose Hip lipstick:



URM. OMG. This picture does the brightness no justice at all - I shit a brick when I tried this on. Fuck a duck, it's bright. And it was £2! Don't let me kiss you with joy when I see you, Kat! I've been wanting it for yonks ever since I saw MonroeMisfitMakeup (what happened to her?) wear it on YT. I was really missing a pink like this. I can't wait to try this with the Milani lipgloss I got in my first swap package from Wendy, as it has hot pink sparkles in it!

And here is my second new beloved, MUA Shade 11:



Oh, beautiful opaque creamypeachybrownyness for £1, how I adore thee. I saw this shade in this post by Beautys Bad Habit which rather helpfully compares some of the MUA £1 lippies to MAC, Clinique, Barry M etc. Anyway, this shade is really lovely, and its formula I think is the nicest of the MUA lippies I have. I just WISH they would have given them names! I mean seriously, how much do you have to pay someone to give something a name? Peach Cobbler, that's peach and brown. Done.


Sigh, that was a big one! (lolz) Hoping to do a victory rolls post tomorrow so wish me luck!

Simples!

Despite getting my Sleek Circus palette, its been too hot/muggy/sweaty to do a full face every day. I know its not been crazy hot, but using the Tube everyday is just a make-up melter. The other I day I wore just powder, mascara and brows. In puclic. To WORK. :| I know.


So this is a full-face I did this week, but I wanted to do a bog-standard smokey eye as I never, ever do them.







I think I used MAC Gesso, Evil Shades Double Barrell, some MUA shadow and Viva Glam Cyndi. Even though I really, really liked how it turned out, I'm a bit stressed atm and it's making me a little spotty, and sweating under my Colorstay isn't going to do me any favours, so I'm trying not to wear it if I don't have to, as I can't afford to buy another foundation when its probably going to start pissing it down for the rest of the year in about a week or so. It still stays on pretty well, but I feel quite icky at the end of the day.

So here's a simple two-shadow, powder, blush and concealer look. I don't actually need as much coverage as Colorstay gives me, I just like it :D The crap lighting here makes my skin look way better than it is, however.





I think I used NYX Super Creamy on the lid, but I don't remember anything else. My brows are red because I shittily waxed them - don't bother with those eyebrows strips, you may as well use Sellotape.

And here is a super-shiny face. Just powder, no concealer, and only two shadows again. I'd only been wearing this for a couple hours and look how shiny. Bleh.





My crease colours is MUA Shade 12 which is an AMAZING duochrome. Its so weird, its like a reddish-brown with a silver-green reflect. Really cool.

Little less conversation, little more action

I think its high time I posted some looks and some manis!


Soooo, manis first.



Sigh. I did this really quickly for the England game yesterday. And we lost, so now I have to take it off. If you're English, I don't need to say anything. If you're not, its too hard to talk about it right now *sniff*.





That little mouse on the second one is on my right hand, so I'm pretty pleased with him! I can't take the credit for this one, I totally ripped off an idea from the lovely Nikki at Polish On Digital Paper. Her nail blog is one of my favourite nail blogs and she posts some wicked art.



I suck at doing french manicures without nail guides, but I wanted something along those lines because I went to a black tie do that my fiances work put on (hard life, eh?) This was really quick and easy and a funky alternative to a french. I think it looks a little bit like lace, and I probably could make a more 'lacy' effort if I had the time.


And now for some face:





This is what I wore to said black tie do, I wanted something soft and pretty and subtle (for me) because my dress was both fussy and white. I wasn't too pleased with it, but whatever. Free champagne.





Thought I'd try a cut crease, as I don't really do them much. All 120 shadows - I know matte blues are a bit on the bad 80's side but I think I managed to avoid that judging by the enthusiastic reaction by my work-mate Marcel (Brazilian, gay, adorable.... I want to eat him.)





Quick look using MAC Gesso and Evil Shades Double Barrell and Suffocation - def buying full sizes of these two - really impressed with how well the shimmer showed up as I don't even think I used NYX JEP that day. My face is mega cropped because... well, I had FOUR angry red spots on my chin that day. FOUR. Srsly.





This was inspired by Jazziebabycakes Red Vixen Tutorial. I used Evil Shades Zombie, the red from the Sleek Sunset Palette, black from Sleek Sunset and the gold liner is from Primark! The eyeliner is a little messy because I put falsies on, realised they were too long, took them off and couldn't be arsed to do them again before work. I thought the colour scheme was a bit 20's, hence the goofy headband picture (bad pic, awesome headband - £2 at Primark!)


Thats all folks. Julissa and Jonna have been doing water marbling this week, so I'm going to do a marble post, probably tomorrow. I've been marbling since way before I've been blogging but I have no pics, so I'm going to have to do another one! I need to take my England manicure off....
