LOTD with Melt Spacecake and MAC Glitter and Ice Cool Palette

All in all, this look is not as nice as I wanted it to be as I was trying some new products and totally buggered it up, but I really wanted to show off this rather gorgeous lipstick!

Eyes: Shadows are all MAC Glitter and Ice cool palette, Morgana Cryptoria Silver Holo Glitter on the lid
Cheeks: Too Faced Chocolate…something, I don’t fucking know
Lips: Melt Cosmetics Spacecake

I participated in a Halloween makeup swap, and my swap partner Channy sent me some wonderful items, including the glitter and eyeshadows seen here. I mean seriously, a MAC palette from the Glitter and Ice collection? This is a bloody gorgeous palette, and you can still pick it up on eBay and so on for not-too-silly prices - the purple and blue shades are just gorgeous. Thank you Channy! She also sent me some really nice Australian items that I'll be talking about soon.

The reason I buggered this look up is that I was doing an intricate swoopy cut-crease sort of thing, and then I tried to adhere the glitter she sent me using Lit Clearly Liquid base…. I’d not use it before and it messed up all my liner and all my crease work. It’s an amazing adhesive (I'll be reviewing it soon) but I really needed to learn how to use it before attempting something so fancy with it! So please excuse the dissapointing eye makeup, heehee!

But let’s talk about that lipstick. GREY LIPSTICK, SCHWEEDHEART. I’d seen a lot of love for Melt on Instagram and on a total whim picked up a couple of shades, including this lovely, Spacecake. If you want I’ll do a review on the two shades I picked, but for now, bask in it’s matte grey creme glory.

What do you think of grey lipstick? Yea? Nay? Really nay?

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Peter Pan!

I can never work out if Peter Pan is a hero or a little shit. I’m erring on the side of ‘little shit,’ but on the other hand, he does have a pretty awesome hat.

Behold the look for which I have no good pictures:

Eyes: Lid/lower lashline, green from Sleek Acid. Crease, Ulta Olive Gold, Wet N Wild Envy. Liner, red matte gel liner from Inglot, Collection 2000 Extreme 24/7 pen liner in black. Waterline, NYX Milk. Highlight, green from MUA Pretty Pastels.
Cheeks: BeautyUk baked blush in Peaches and Cream, Darling Girl Boardwalk
Lips: Morgana Cryptoria Bees Knees

Apart from the fact I struggled to take photos of this look (cheers for raining, England) as  well as the fact that I *couldn’t* take too many photos of it because my stupid memory card is being stupid, I realy, really liked this look. Red liner, green eyeshadow and orange lipstick? I don’t think this could be more me!

I gave Vijaya Gurgi from The Black Cauldron to do this week, because he is sooo cute – “Munching and crunchings!” – and because The Black Cauldron rocks. So go check that out!

Morgana Cryptoria 1920s Lipstick Collection– Swatches and Review

morganacryptoriatwentieslipstick

Kathy recently sent me an AWESOME package with the Morgana Cryptoria 1920s Lipstick Collection in it! AHMAGAD. Before I get around to showing you the awesomeness that is these lipsticks, I’d like to cordially invite my local Post Office and Parcel Force to Fuck Off. This package was sat in the back of the post office all lonely because I never got a ‘you’ve got a parcel’ slip through my door and I had to go on a quest to three post offices to find it, which was fabulous, obviously.
ANYWAY. They are finally in my grubby mitts. They’re packaged beautifully in red and gold as opposed to the the normal black and silver tubes, which gives them a really glamorous retro look, and they come in a lovely red stars-and-moons baggie. (The zombie was sent to me, amongst many other awesome trinkets including seafood flavoured candy, by Kathy. I’ve called the zombie Kathy in her honour.) Before you read this review, I also urge you to go and take a look at the frankly seat-wettingly gorgeous promotional pictures featuring one of my favourite bloggers, Blix.
Clicky the description, which I’ve pinched from the MC site, to see the lippy on the website.

’warm pumpkin orange’
If you know me at all, or have even thrown a cursory glace at my blog, you probably know how much I LOVE an orange lipstick. I adore them, I crave them, I am a slave to them. This is is so beautiful, and not too yellow or ‘dirty’ looking on the lips,  which is a problem I sadly have very often with pumpkin colours. LOVE. Expect to see this with a brown smokey eye very soon!

I don’t have a colour quite like this in my collection. I love brown tones on me and to have a more gothic brown (does that make it steampunk? :p) is really cool. This to me is the most 1920’s colour out of the lot for some reason – perhaps I ought to read more makeup history?! I’m really looking forward to working out what I can pair with this one - I'm thinking just a cream lid and a massive winged liner.

’very dark red’

To my surprise and delight, my boyfriend loves this one! Hurrah! It looks slightly deeper and more black in real life. I’ll be wearing this all Hallowe’en, I expect!

’warm & bright red’

I adore this one! It’s not as bright and in your face as the website swatch, but I actually prefer it on my lips. It's more unique looking in real life and there’s something really authentically vintage about it.

Cat’s Pajamas

’brick rose-red’

Perfection description. This one is really unique. As a fan of orangey colours, I really appreciate the brick undertone to this. If you’re into corals, etc, this is a really cool alternative. I really, really want to use this as cream blush at some point as well.

Speakeasy

I don’t think this one is very accurate to the swatch on the site at all – it certainly looks more of a stain than a creamy lipstick, although it feels very creamy, and it’s a lot more blue-based in real life - but nonetheless it’s bloody gorgeous. It was this shade that I thought would wear beautifully as a stain as it really looks like you’ve just been munching fruit!

I’m not that well versed in Morgana lipsticks (combination of price plus shipping manages to get a small parcel hit with custom fees, so it’s just a bit too much for me normally) but the formula of these is wonderful. I have 3 other lippies from the normal line and while I find them long-wearing without being uncomfortable, these do feel more pleasant on the lips and of course, some of these are apply really beautifully as a sheer, stain-like product as well. Always love a multi-functional product! I’d definitely  recommend these beauties and am sending Kathy a big wet kiss as soon as I can find a box big enough!

Same meat, different gravy

Ever do a look and then accidentally do almost exactly the same thing the next day? Well… I wasn’t intending these looks to be *this* similar, although I had intended to do two easy neutral Fyrinnae eyes. Oh well, two neutral eyes, peach cheeks and pink lipped looks for you it is!

Quick and Simple LOTD's

Getting up earlier in the mornings is something I've found quite hard to adjust to, so I've tended to wear simpler, more neutral eyes with a more dramatic lip in the daytime over the last couple of weeks. Despite my worrying, I haven't found wearing brighter/darker/dramatic eyes at work a real problem, but I do find flaws in these looks more obvious, so they're not my go-to if I have to get up at six.

Here's a couple of easy looks.

Eyes: E.L.F Ethereal quad
Cheeks: BeautyUK Baked Blush in Baked Peach
Lips: Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Corset

Always see nude eyes, dark lips in the magazines, so thought I'd bust it out. Yay or nay - do I need more around the eyes? I got compliments on my lipstick but I'm not sure it doesn't make me look washed out without liner. Ah well.

Eyes: Lid - Fyrinnae Damn Paladins. Crease - Wet N Wild Humid (MAC Humid dupe.)
Cheeks: BeautyUK Baked Blush in Peaches and Cream, Accessorize Merged Blusher in Pretty Pink.
Lips: No 17 Shine On Lipstick in Twilight Tease

Normally green and purple (that lippy is much more purple-based irl) is a more in-your-face combo, but I wear wearing a leopard print dress to work so I thought it best not to push it with bright purples!

Eyes: Lid - Butternut colour from E.L.F Ethereal Quad. Crease: light matte brown from Sleek Storm.
Cheeks: MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Springsheen
Lips: Morgana Cryptoria Vegan Lipstick in Coraline's Kiss

I took this at the end of the day, hence looking a little shiny. I do like using a pop of colour on the lips, with (vaguely) matching blush and keeping the eyes neutral. As a side note... why did I buy a Sheertone blush only to moan that it's sheer? Anyone's guess, really.

What are your quick fixes, and go-to looks, girls?

Quickie Review: Morgana Cryptoria Vegan Lipsticks

I'd been wanting to try out Morgana's lipsticks for some time - they're widely raved about in the indie make-up community. I had a little Christmas money left over, so I picked Coraline's Kiss, Screaming Violet and Lush.

Ordering from Morgana Cryptoria was easy and the website is fun! At checkout, there is a couple of drop-down menus from which you can pick what shadows you want for your free samples, which I think is really, really awesome! Another thing I noticed about Morgana that they if something you order goes on sale or BOGOF within a certain period of you ordering, they'll credit your account or send you a free item with your next order. WIN. That is awesome customer service. Anywhoo...

Coraline's Kiss:

I'd been recommended this and I'm so glad I bought it. The texture is a little bit dry, but it is super bloody pigmented - like, really wow. I think it looks great with my skintone and I can't wait to wear it out.

Update: I wore this to work today, and I only had to touch it up twice during the day. It lost it's vibrancy more than it wore off my lips, if you know what I mean - no actual colour had worn off! I wasn't eating a lot today or anything, but I'm impressed with the wear. Good stuff!

Shrieking Violet:

I'd seen Blix wear this, and I've also seen in on a few other blog and fell in love. I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with this one. The colour is spot on, but I just can't make it work. It looks kind of waxy and is really difficult to apply evenly - I also couldn't get it to transfer onto a lip brush properly. It took a lot of work to make it look this good, and I can't get it to look good around the edges. I dunno, maybe I got a dud? I'll make it work.

Update: Melissa has said that this colour is going to be re-formulated. (Scroll down to the comments.) I think that's great as it's such a beautiful colour, it really deserves an awesome formula. I'd like to reiterate as well the fact I don't think this is a shit lippy, or unworkable, just that it's difficult. I also think it's cool the owner of the company took the time to let us know.

Lush:

Pretty! I love the finish. I saw Ana wear this on Lipstick and Lightsabers and even though I really, really, REALLY don't need another slightly-lilac-bubblegummy lipstick (I NEVER WEAR THEM) I really wanted to try this! It's so odd - it stains like a mofo, and not at all like the tube colour. I think it's awesome, but be warned if you're not into stains!

And because I know everything in this vague colour family gets compared to Viva Glam Gaga:

L-R:
Barry M Lip Paint No 177, Morgana Cryptoria Lush, Collection 2000 Bubblegum, MAC Viva Glam Gaga

Would I order from Morgana Cryptoria again: Yes, I would, although I found the shipping a bit expensive at $7 (yeah, I'm a cheapskate, it's not that bad from the States) and I'd have to remember about the bloody customs charge! The colour selection is amazing, and apart from the Shrieking Violet I got, the quality seems excellent. And rumour has it samples will be available soon, as well as a whole shitload of new colours!
