Party Sunset LOTD with 120 palette

I wanted to do a sunset-themed look after seeing Susan, the owner of Darling Girl post a pretty one in a Facebook group, but I think it turned out more tropical looking! All the eyeshadows in this look are using the 120 palette, which I haven’t actually pulled out for a while. Having had the palette for nearly three years now, it’s done me very well and I forgot how pretty some of the colours are!

Eyes: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Beige, 120 eyeshadow palette (matte red, several matte oranges, two matte yellows, cream shimmer, matte pink, shimmery purple, matte navy), Darling Girl Pixie Sprinkles in Golden Child
Cheeks: Benefit Dallas, Make Up Store Stardust.
Lips: 66 lip palette.

I decided to go the whole hog with the cheapness and used a 66 lip palette from eBay as well. The textures aren’t exactly varied or particularly beautiful, but the colour choice and pigmentation is certainly there so if you like playing with really bright or unusual colours I’d definitely recommend checking it out. I also tried to use a cheap eBay cheek palette, but it was too awful and I gave up – there’ll be a bigger rant on this product in an upcoming video – and switched back to higher end cheek products. Dallas is actually my oldest makeup product (I won’t say how long!)

Have you all been wearing brights lately?

Experimentin’

A few looks I was just sort of dicking around with that don’t really deserve posts of their own, but are sort of cool anyway…

funky liner

funky liner 2

Barry M Dazzle Dust and 120 Palette green with Inglot Duraline.

Okay, this one looks a bit ropey and my brows are all screwed up, but I *had* been wearing it for a long time by the time I’d got home and took pictures. I was bored at a shoot in between takes so I wanted to play with liner.  I was really brave and wore it home with Illamasqua Apocalips! Quite a feat seeing as I was in Essex…

gross drag makeup 2
gross drag makeup

Sleek Storm palette, Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Thalia, Viva Glam Gaga 2, a random Barry M lipliner.

WELL THIS IS FUCKING TERRIFYING. I was watching drag and wanted to do a deep black eye with dark brows, and use my new Illamasqua bronzer, and then I thought I’d do some sort of nasty, over-liner, wrong-lipliner look just for shits and giggles, and I don’t like it. Ah well. Moving on…

dodgy union flag makeup

MAC Gesso, Sugarpill Lumi, Royal Sugar and Love+, Inglot white gel liner, Barry M Dazzle Dust in Cherry Red, Inglot Duraline.

A not-very-good photo of not-very-good Union flag makeup! It looked better with my eyes more open, and I had my other eye done the same. From a distance it looked cool, but I didn’t have much time to do it so I wasn’t happy with it. I wore this to go to Hyde Park for what’s now being called “Super Saturday” – Team GB smashed it with 3 gold medals in athletics and more in rowing and cycling. It was an amazing day and I’m glad I wore patriotic makeup, even if it wasn’t much good!

What have you been experimenting with?

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Piglet

It's Disney time again! Vijaya gave me Piglet to do, and I gave her Sully from Monsters, Inc! I love that film so I can't wait to see what she did with him.

Anyway, onto my Piglet look:

Emergency foundation, you are lighter than my neck :|

Eyes/Brows: All 120 palette, except for highlight which is the light pink shade from Wet & Wild's Lust palette.
Cheeks: Darling Girl Candy
Lips: Fyrinnae Lip Lustre inVisual Kei

I actually found this look really challenging - Piglet is pretty much just a little pink pig, so there's not much to go on. I was really unsure whether or not add black liner or glitter to this look in case it made it too harsh - he's such a cute little thing! In the end, I went with all matte shadows (more cuddly, right?!) and skipped the liner to keep it soft looking. My fiance thinks the eyebrows are 'creepy,' but he can go and do one as far as I'm concerned ;)

Go and check out Sulley!

Ow kunnit nofe skusin danger ifzat?

Sick of Harry Potter looks yet? Yes?! Well then sectumspempra to you. (Well, maybe not. But definitely a Bat-Bogey Hex or something of the sort.) I always thought I'd never bother because its pretty obvious and done colour combos, but then I realised that, oh yeah, I freaking love Harry Potter. So here we go...

Slytherin:

My house... Ah, who am I kidding, I'd be in Hufflepuff. I wanted something dark and murky but still using the house colours, leaving a neutral pale face a la Draco. I used Sleek, Barry M, Wet N Wild and Fyrinnae.

Gryffindor:

Came out a little too pink, I think (and I used ES Zombie which is a bit too purple), but I liked it anyway. It was nice and warm, like the Gryffindor common room! Mainly Sleek and Fyrinnae with some Evil Shades.

Ravenclaw:

Using Hi-Fi, Wet N Wild, Barry M, Gosh and Sleek. I went for the book colours, obviously; Ravenclaw automatically makes me think of Luna so I went for a nice cheery blue (Hi-Fi Chicago =<3)as opposed to navy, which is more of a traditional school jumper colour (in the UK anyway!)

Hufflepuff:

I did another look for this, but it was too yellow. I mean, YELLOW. So I redid it and this is what I came up with. Eh... I just couldn't do anything good. If I had more time I could do a really funky badger liner, but these are all what I wore to work.

Hungarian Horntail:

Grey, taupe and black for the Horntails scales, gold for its egg! Love me some Horntail! Using Sleek, Fyrinnae and 120 palette. Not quite how it was in my head but I liked the placement.

Wormtail:

Murky brown for his fur as a rat (and probably his soul. What a prick) and silver for his new hand. All Sleek shadows. I really, really like silver and brown together. I'm going to try this combo again with dark green liner and a Mac Club dupe in the crease.

Nymphadora Tonks:

Tonks is one of my favourite characters. Obviously this is inspired by her hair. I used Sleek, Fyrinnae, MUA and Collection 2000.

Yay and hooray! Off to finish OOTP now kthxbai x

Sort of Makeover ish: Dolly Divine

A couple of weeks ago, I caught up with my gorgeous friend Dolly Divine, who I've known since secondary school but haven't seen her for a few years. She is now a burlesque dancer as well as a model and she came over for a natter and to play make-up.

Isn't she beautiful?

I don't remember all of what I used.... Fyrinnae Polar Bear on the lids and Cupids Bow, various 120 and 66 lip palette shades, Revlon Photoready/Powder and Screenface concealer. I wanted to do something a little bright and funky, as Dolly normally rocks the classic red lipstick, black liner. I liked the lips, I thought they were different but still subtle.

I wasn't too happy with the make-up... it wasn't bad at all, but I'm very picky and we were nattering too much for me to focus properly! Then the light died.... ah well! It was so much fun to see her, and hopefully we'll do it again soon.

Doing makeup on other people is weird.

P.S: My sister says thankyou for all the nice comments you left her.

Robyn's Rockin' Retro #6: Some Kinda Psycho

I absolutely love the psychobilly style, although I find it really, really hard to define. I guess I'd describe it as rockabilly plus punk plus hot rod with a bit of a zombie twist! Think amped-up old Hollywood style make-up and dresses with massive pompadours, leopard print, skulls, brothel creepers, tattoos, blah.

Anyway, I've seen girls rocking the psychobilly look with all kinds of make-up, but the classic black/liner red lips is still pretty common. So here are my pin-up looks with a bit of a twist!

Sexeh:

There's been a distinct lack of red lips in this series! Basically this look is just amping up the classic pin-up look - I winged my liner out a lot more than I normally would, packed grey and black into the crease and gave my lips a lot of love!

Eyes:
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Pearl (highlight, lower lashline)
Evil Shades Glooming (outer crease)
MUA Shade 3 (crease)
MAC Gesso (lid, blended with the grey shades)
Collection 2000 Fast Strokes Liner

Face:
MAC MSF in Stereo Rose (thanks to Secret Beauty Blog!)
Collection 2000 Fast Strokes Liner (beauty mark)

Lips:
Maybelline Moisture Extreme lip liner in Royal Red
OCC Lip Tar in NSFW
Milani Buzz Worthy gloss in Bee-uitful (centre)
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Pearl (highlight cupid's bow)

Mmmminty:

This look was inspired by hollywoodnoirmakeup's Green Smoke tutorial, which I absolutely adored. Did not have time to do a proper cut crease, though, this was done super quick but I really liked how it came out. I paired it with a red gloss - I am still really afraid of red lips for the day, I don't know why! I think it's quite a lot with my hair, perhaps.

Eyes:
Hi-Fi Sweet Dreams (lid)
Sleek Black (crease)
Nyx White Pearl (highlight)

Pretty in Pink:

I wanted to do the same style/technique of make-up I've been doing with my pin-up looks, i.e., simple eyes, strong lips, but with different colours. I think you can still tell what era it was inspired by, especially with accessories like hair flowers, bandannas, etc. Dita Von Teese often uses a purple in her crease, but less girly and bright than this! I may do a Dita look if I have time this week with purple shadows.

Eyes:
Wet and Wild colour icon palette in Lust (light pink on the lid... oh, I can't remember)
Face:
Almay blush in Peach
Lips:
Milani lipstick in Rose Hip

Psychobitch Outta Hell:

Sprry about my eye bags! Anyway, I looooved this look. I think its such an awesome psychobilly colour combo - purple and green is very zombie glam, no? I did try red lips with this, and I sort of liked it, but I had to go to work in my lovely bright pink work shirt, and I really wasn't feeling it.

Eyes:
All 120 palette shadows (kelly green on lid, Stars-and-Rockets like purple in crease and deep matte purple in outer crease)
NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk on waterline
Collection 2000 Fast Strokes Liner

Hope you girls liked, it feels like I haven't posted any face for ages! xxx

P.S: I'm not going to bother listing certain make-up items any more. I always use Revlon Colorstay in 150 Buff, I always use UDPP, I generally always use NYX JEP in Milk and at the moment I generally use Lancome Hypnose. I don't think we all care that much what foundation, etc each other uses unless we're looking for a new one. And, you know, I'm lazy.
