Second Mask Entry for Julissa's Masquerade contest!

If you don't know about this, guys, you so check it out! Julissa at Rebellious Make-up is having an awesome contest/giveaway with a masquerade theme! There are THREE prizes, which is totally awesome, and they all include something cool Julissa is going to make, which I think is rad. First prize includes stuff from Fyrinnae, OHWTO, Make Up Forever... ah, its awesome, go enter.

Anyway, here is my look. I really, really wasn't happy with it all, but not close up, it looks ok. As per, I gave up halfway through when neither my Kryolan nor regular ol' eyeliner wanted to cooperate for drawing the lines. I was 'inspired,' if you can call it that, by both the cool mask Bayonetta wears at the start of the game and the mask scene in the Labyrinth a bit, and Labyrinth in general, hence the shape of the eyeshadow.

(only closed eye pic I took, sorry judges!)

Eyes:
Hi-Fi #1 Hit Single (lid)
MUA Shade 3(I don't bloody know, the grey shade - crease, winged shapes)
Hi-Fi Between the Stars (inner corner, Highlight)
H-Fi Another Day, Another Drama (liner)
Eyelure Girls Aloud Festival Lashes in Nicola (<3)

Mask:
Collection 2000 Glitter in Shake It Up
Kryolan AquaColour in Black/Collection 2000 Fast Strokes Liner
Purples from 120 palette

Cheeks
Top-right hand fuschia from Sleek Circus

Lips
NYX Round Lipstick in Medusa
No-name clear gloss with holographic glitter

What do you think? It was fun to do and I got to put a posh dress on (thems the rules!) If anyone wants to know, the massive flower was £2 from Primark and the earrings I bought years and years ago at Accessorize.

I just loved the winged shape I did for this, so I decided to do it for the wearable look too. I just did a toned-down version, with some lilac-ish blush and blotted my lips with a lighter purple lipstick to keep the overall colour scheme. I always do a less heavy look after I've done a face with loads of slap, I can't help it!

Eyes:
Hi-Fi #1 Hit Single
Hi-Fi Between the Stars (inner corner)
Whatever the MUA shade is for the soft wings
Collection 2000 liner in Shake It Up

Cheeks:
Pink/Lilac colours from 120 Palette
NYX Mosaic Highlighter

Lips:
NYX Round Lipstick in Fusion

Give the contest a go!

Julissa's Masquerade Contest Entry

Julissa is hosting an awesome Masquerade Contest with cool prizes, including some made by her lovely self which I think is awesome and prizes for the runners up too. (I've got my eye on the Fyrinnae Diabolique Masqerade O_o) You have to create a mask from make-up and then make an everyday look inspired by your mask.

Sigh... this didn't turn out they way I had planned and was much more vibrant in my head than on pictures. I was inspired by this shot by Alex Box which is going to make my pic that much more crap:

I wanted something soft yet bright, with a stencil-y sort of look, like picture above, so I decided to have a go at doing something Marie-Antoinette-ish, with fishnet on the mask for the stencil-ly part and to add texture. Yeah... never used fishnet stencils before - you have to really stretch the fabric to get a taught stencil, and I didn't do so good. I decided to blend the shadows into the mask, to make it a softer look.

So yeah... only ok. Maybe I should have left the eyes 'cut out.' Meh. It was a good learning process though, like I learnt how not to use fishnets as a stencil, and touching up my foundation after I'd peeled the tape off was tricky, too. Also its the first time I've used Kryolans as an all-over base, and I liked it.

I mostly used Barry M shadows with a bit of Gosh and Nyx mixed in.

And here is my 'everyday' look. I liked the bronze detailing on the mask more, but to make it more of my everyday look, which is quite bright, I blended it with the hot pink and added black liner as I like a stronger eye and don't often wear soft pinks on my eyes. I'm definitely going to try blending more colours out with gold and copper shadows now, I thought it looked pretty cool. Sorry about the zits, judges!

So go check out the contest guys, its open until sometime in August, so you've got a while to think of an idea!

Whats that coming over the hill...?

Is it a Monster? Is it a Monsterrrr?

So I chose Monster energy drink as my soda for Make Up Geeks weekly challenge which is obviously to create a soda inspired look. If you haven't seen it, go and check it out, there's some great creative looks and some awesome colour combos.

And there it is in all its green-y goodness. I love Monster. I don't normally drink energy drinks and not even that much pop, to be honest, but I do love this energy drink. I drank a lot of it because they were giving tons of it away on the snowboarding resort I lived on for a while and it just reminds me of good times.

Eyes:

120 palette -lid, crease, outer V
Nyx Jade - inner outer V (:S)
Nyx Frosted Flakes - inner corner and brow highlight
Kryolan aqua colors in Black and White (liner)
Rhinestones from eBay
Cheap lashes from local beauty supply

Face:

MUA Blusher - apples of the cheeks
Sleek Contour palette - under cheekbones
Nyx Mosaic Powder - cheekbones
Revlon Colorstay in Buff

Lips:

Nyx Round Lipstick in Narcissus
Nyx Round Lipstick in Louisiana (inner lips)
MUA lipgloss in shade 5 (centre of lips)

I got a parcel from Lipglossiping's blog sale this morning containing the Kryolan aqua colors I used for this look and I am in love with them already. Its nice to have some more versatile products in my kit - especially as these are going to last me for a long, long time! Charlotte is also a total doll and sent me a Kryolan supra colour for free which I was totally stoked for - I just need to work out how to use it! Either way, a very happy bunny here.

Ok... One last thing. Fast approaching 40 followers (squee) so a little thankyou giveaway is extremely imminent. However... I don't know how to go about it. What would you ask people to do or write to make it a bit more fun and different and get people interested?

Love and kisses xxx
