LOTD with Barry M and OCC

I’ve not really used any loose pigments for quite a while, so I pulled out a couple of my favourite Barry M shades this weekend and had a play. I wanted something neutral with a little pop of interest, so I used my favourite gold pigment by OCC.

Eyes: Barry M Dazzle Dusts in 39 Tan (all over) and 102 Burgundy Noir (to define.) OCC Color Concentrate pigment in
Lips: Revlon Red Lacquer, blotted
Cheeks: Inglot AMC Cream Blush in 91, Boots No 7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter

Simple, neutral and yet I like the fun eyeliner. Barry M is another of those brands that people think only carry mad colours – not true! They have some lovely neutrals and work-safe colours as well. Similarly, with OCC people are all about the lip tars, lip tars, lip tars when they have some really fantastic loose pigments that I think get overlooked. Triptych looks MUCH brighter in real life than it does in this LOTD – check it out if you can!

In Which I Get Drunk And Forget How To Use A Camera

Look, y’all. Don’t lie, I know you’ve done it too. You do awesome makeup for a night out, or you have a few beverages, and you forget to take a photo of your banging face. As I’ve been a busy bee and it’s been raining like a rainy thing here in the U.K, I’ve no proper blog posts lined up, so have some crappy phone pics of makeup what I done did.

night out

Eyes and brows were all Sugarpill, lips are Illamasqua Apocalips.

night out

Eyes are all Inglot with Collection2000 black liner and Kryolan Pearlweiss glitter. Lips are MAC CYY.

I kind of wish I’d taken proper pictures. My contouring for the first look is whack, but the eyes look good. Funnily enough my skin looked boss for the second look even though I jacked up the liner a bit. Ah well!

LOTD: Smokey Brown Eyes and Red Lips

Again I feel I should apologise for not having anything bright, original or exciting! I really need to stop feeling like that because I actually love this type of look. If I’m apologising for anything it’s for the state of my bloody hair, which I haven’t dyed for a while as my scalp is a little sensitive right now – any tips from frequent dyers?!  Anyway, enough of my melon, on to the look!

Eyes: Inglot Matte 32, 328. MAC Gesso. Too Faced Night Nymph.
Cheeks: MAC Lightsweep, MAc Buff.
Lips: MAC Such Flare!, Barry M lipliner.

Yep. Smokey deep eyes, red lips. Classic combo, gotta love it! I love how this looked even if the eyeshadow application was a bit dodgy – getting used to a new eye primer, blah blah.

What combinations have you been rocking lately?

Pop of Aqua LOTD

I did a really cute smokey blue look with brighter blue liner with my friend last week and being the lazy bint that I am, I wanted to recreate it this weekend.

Pop of Aqua 2

Pop of Aqua
Pop of Aqua 4

Eyes: Lid: Inglot Pearl 402. Crease, Inglot Matte 337  Highlight. Inglot Matte 330 and MAC Gesso. Blue liner, dark blue ‘crease’ colours from Wet N Wild 'Blue Had Me At Hello’ palette over Urban Decay pencil in Perversion. Aqua liner, GOSH Fine Art Liner in 11.
Cheeks: MAC Cream Blush in So Sweet, So Easy
Lips: MAC Viva Glam Gaga, MAC Lip Conditioner

I so rarely wear light pink cheeks or lips, but I really like it with the smokier eye.  I actually really like this blush too – before I wished that it were more pigmented, but I actually love the finish and I’m using this type of colour more and more now that I’m contouring with foundation most days. Same kinda deal with the lipstick – I always found VG Gaga very hard to wear personally, but once it’s sheered down I actually really like it, and now I’m wishing I had bought a back up. I can’t believe it was actually my first MAC lipstick!

I thought the pop of blue was really fun, and I was going to wear false lashes but actually, in real life my lashes showed up perfectly fine against the blue liner, so I left it without. Sadly I forgot how much of a pain in the arse the GOSH art liners are to apply - Very pretty, but a total pain in the arse!

LOTD with Inglot and Darling Girl

Okay, I know I just did a post with Darling Girl’s LE ‘Don’t Teal Me You Love Me,’ but it’s my blog so you’re gonna have to deal!

Eyes: All Inglot (I don’t remember all of them but I can check if you need!) except liner, which is Darling Girl DTMYLM.
Lips: Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in Provoke
Cheeks: MAC Blushbaby, Boots No 7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter

I haven’t used Blushbaby for ages, so I apologise in advance if you see a massive influx of it on the blog lately, because it’s such a great cheek colour for me. I wish I’d added lashes to this look – I fully intended to and then time just got away from me!

I’m using a new cream foundation at the moment and I have to say, I’m really liking it! I’ve also been going a little thicker of brow lately – I blame the lovely brow goddess, Cara Delevigne!

Aqua Splash LOTD with Inglot Shadows

This is a look that I really shouldn’t like – my blending is pretty terrible and the false eyelashes I used were just awful, but I really like it anyway! Having spent a week wearing just mascara and a hint of eyeliner, this felt really glam. I also like using colours not so far from my eye colour, too.

Inglot  DS 478, Matte 385, Matte 333, Maybelline Gel Liner, Collection2000 Extreme 24/7 Liner, Collection2000 Glam Crystals in Le Freak.

Sometimes it’s good to enjoy a look without being really critical of yourself. I think a lot of beauty bloggers do that too often and we get caught up in the idea that a look has to be total perfection. Well, screw that!

2012 Roundup: My Favourite Looks

Well, the year is nearly over! I’m still on a turkey comedown and am too lazy to write any new content, so here are my top ten looks of 2012. In no particular order…

Purple Plushie Tutorial using Sleek and Fyrinnae

Bat Romance using Sleek and Sugarpill

Heartbreaker Palette look using Sugarpill and LA Colors Jumbo Pencil

Mermaid look using Sugarpill, Inglot and Paperself lashes

Taupe Eyes and Purple Lips Tutorial using elf, Maybelline and Inglot

Rainbow in The Dark using Sugarpill and Sleek

Love+ using Sugarpill, Sleek and MAC

Government Hooker using Sugarpill and Fyrinnae

Mickey Mouse using Sugarpill, Maybelline and Darling Girl

Cryin’ using Inglot, KIKO and MAC

Ok, ok. These are all pretty out-there looks apart from the purple and taupe look, but hey. I guess that goes to show that I prefer the more out-there looks after all – I was worried I’d got boring during 2012! If I had to pick one, I’d pick the Mermaid look – I got really nice comments from the people at Illamasqua on Twitter (although a weird comment or two asking why I’d pierced my eye?! *shrug*)

Link me to your favourite looks of the year!

Mossy Glossy

Sometimes you just feel like doing something really ugly. Just me? Okay then…

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Mossy Green, Illamasqua Intense Lip Gloss in Violate, Inglot Sleek Cream in 99 (Black), Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Electrum, Collection2000 24/7 Liner Pen, Pixie Epoxy, eBay glitter.

I could have gone grosser, uglier, and piled on more product, but typically I thought this would be a good idea before I went to work and I didn’t want to run late. It felt good to do something nasty though – I really liked the blobby, glossy eye lashes!
I’ll be doing this again in the near future – it’s fun to play with textures if nothing else.

Would you ever try a deliberately unattractive look?

Ellie Goulding Inspired LOTD

Wendy asked me have a crack at a gorgeous cut-crease, no-brow look that Ellie Goulding wore in Paper Magazine recently.  Despite looking nothing like Ellie and being nowhere near as cool, I thought I’d have a play with that style.

Eyes: Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick in shade 10, Inglot AMC 58, Glamour Doll Eyes Glitter in Techno, Collection2000 24/7 Extreme pen liner in Black, Active Lashes Cosmetics.
Cheeks: MAC Harmony, a random MAC pink which I don’t have the name on anymore.
Lips: Collection 2000 Bubblegum.
This was really interesting to do! I have such wonky creases on eyes that I don’t like to do cut-crease or really graphic liner looks as it’s too much of a paint to get it to look even and nice, but I have to try these things once in a while even if it’s just to remind myself that that shit just looks jacked up on my face.  Looking at this, I think I should have brought the wing part under my eye a little so the whole shape is lower and so the undereye area doesn’t look so… empty, but hey.

Well, I don’t think I’d did too badly, but it certainly suits someone more edgy like Ellie! I’m struggling with working out how to create the bleached brow look without using bleach… this time I used greasepaint instead of concealer. I think one weeeknd I might bleach them just for a laugh and do tons of no-brow looks. I know a lot of people hate the trend, but I think it’s beautiful. I love how it changes the face and how it really leaves the focus on the eyes for makeup.
And here’s the original look:

And here's another less scary way of wearing the eye look:

Labyrinth Mini Series Part 4: Toby

I knew I wanted to do something stripey to represent Toby, and considering all he does for the whole film is er, wear a stripey onsie, here's what I did!

toby 1
toby 2

NYX JEP in Milk, Detrivore Bone, Barry M Dazzle Dust in no 85 Cherry Red, Inglot Duraline, Inglot AMC Matte Gel Liner in 76.

The more I look at this, the more it bugs me! I wish I’d worked out a way to make it not a triple wing and something more round and cute and more like a baby! It was also a nightmare to do on my wrinkly lids, so there’s lots of imperfections which are doing my head in. However, I do like the triple wing and I might try to see if I can incorporate that into a future look without bringing it all the way through the lid. I added the little circles to represent to poppers on his little outfit, as that’s the only non-stripey detail!

This is Toby (real name, for those who aren’t Labyrinth geeks! Toby Froud is the son of Brian Froud, an amazing illustrator who did all the art and character design for the film) as a baby…

D’aww! And here’s Toby as an adult…

Not bad at all!

Miscellaneous weekendness… (LOTD, OOTD, Makeover etc!)

Sort of an offload-y post today, y’all….

First up, a FOTD which looks nice if you don’t look too closely at it. I bought a white gel liner at Inglot and unlike their others, I don’t rate it as much! It doesn’t seem to like the waterline too well and it’s not as opaque as I’d hoped. Ah well.

Eyes: Shadows all Inglot, Inglot Matte Collection AMC Eyeliner Gel in 76, Darling Girl Pixie Sprinkles
Lips: Covergirl Siren
Cheeks: Inglot AMC Cream Blush 81, MUA Blusher Shade 1.
Bone earrings: Topshop

See what I mean about the liner? It’s alright, it’s just not… amazing. Le sigh. I wish I’d done a more dramatic crease as well, but I was pushed for time.

Wanna see my awesome new skirt? Well, tough shit, because here it is…

leather skirt
ice cream

Skirt, Central Park. Tshirt, Primark. Creeper pumps, Topshop. Necklace, Topshop.

Isn’t it the mostest perfectest skirt ever? It’s faux leather and it’s perfect for wearing to photoshoots because if I get any makeup on it, it just wipes off! I had to show off the awesome necklace as well – I love it so much even though it’s super heavy. If I see Topshop have a sale on, I head straight for the jewellery section!

And lastly here’s a quick look I did on my friend Dolly Donnahue today…

Dolly

Eyes: All 120 palette shadows, Kikp Long Lasting Stick Liner in 09, Inglot Matte Collection AMC Eyeliner Gel in 76, Avon Super Shock mascara.
Cheeks: BeautyUK Baked Blusher in Peaches and Cream, Illamasqua Lover
Lips: Sleek Mystic, pink from 120 palette.

The new gel liner didn’t like her waterline much either! :( I saw a gorgeous look where the model had white on her lower lash and waterlines, and Dolly had pointed out a green look that she liked in my NARS book, so I put the two together. I love that lip colour on her!

What are you getting up to this weekend?
