Um…A Vibrating Sponge?

Yep, I'm totally serious. While buying cute nail polishes from Korea a while back I stumbled across this utterly bizarre thing and for some reason, found myself putting it in my basket.  The claims of “more strong 4D vibration”  were just too much. I don’t want 2D vibration. I don’t even want 3D vibrations. I want 4D. 4D VIBRATION. Please read the listing I just linked because it is a beautiful thing. They apply foundation on an orange.

The sponge comes in a shiny metallic packaging and looks rather cute - there's a choice of gold, pink or blue casing. Inside is your sponge, which is a decently thick, dense disc-shaped latex sponge on a plastic backing which clips into the egg. You can detach the sponge to wash it and you can buy three refills on eBay for a few quid.

And then, of course, there's a little button on the side to make it vibrate. I really don't know what the deal with this is supposed to be. I guess it feels nice (ON YOUR FACE, YOU VILE CHILDREN) and it seems to apply things a little more smoothly than a normal sponge, but I don’t see any major application benefits to be honest.

So. Its.... um... well, it's a sponge. And it vibrates. Yeah. I really don't understand this product! I mean, it's kind of cute and the listing is hilarious. If you're the type of person who uses a sponge, I guess it's nice to have one in a case that closes up and doesn't bum around the bottom of your makeup bag, collecting pencil shavings and miscellaneous lipstick smudges. Other than that.... well, I bought it because I'm childish, what can I say?

If you want to try this out, you can get it here on eBay for just under £5.

Lucky Dip!

Lauren Luke of YouTube (and I’m sure other YouTubers as well) has been doing a series of Lucky Dip posts – rummage in your storage, pull out something at random and make a look with it! I thought it looked fun, so I’ve done a few Lucky Dip looks for you. I decided to use my indie eyeshadow and keep them to an eye look rather than a full face look – mainly because all my indie shadows are stored together and the jars are really similar, so I wouldn’t be able to tell what I was picking by touch! I’m going to use four shadows for each look, and pick a glitter and a pencil eyeliner for each look as well. Again, these items are easy for me to rummage for! Because I don’t have a ton of bases and brow products, I’ve allowed myself to chose whatever I normally would use for my brows if I need to, and use regular bases like my MUA primer and NYX Milk (but not coloured primers or paintpots.)

Let’s see what I pulled out for Lucky Dip number 1:

Post 1

kingfisher living dead grl persuasion wisteria cloud

Clockwise from top left: glitter from eBay, Silk Naturals Kingfisher, Living Dead Grrl That’s A Fact, Darling Girl Wisteria Cloud, Darling Girl Peacemaker, Rimmel Cool Blue.

Well, this could have turned out a lot worse! The eyeliner and the chartreuse shade worried me, but I really like what I came up with…

First I applied “It’s a Fact!” to the outer half of my lid. I then applied “Kingfisher” to the outer half, and then went back in with “It’s a Fact!” and blended in the middle. Next I went in with “Peacemaker” and blended that through the crease. Then, I took Rimmel “Cool Blue” kohl pencil and lined my waterline and lower lashline, taking it up past my waterline to join the shadow on the upper lid. I then took “Peacemaker” again and blended that over the pencil on the outer half of my lashline, again joining it up with the top. Then I took “Wisteria Cloud” and use it as a highlight on my inner corner and browbone. Mixing “Peacemaker” with some mixing medium, I then used it as a liner and winged it out to join up with the “Peacemaker”/”Cool Blue” combo on the lower lashline. Lastly, I tapped a little of the glitter over Pixie epoxy to give my lower lashline some sparkle.

I think I got quite lucky with this one, no?

Take some makeup, add some more…

crazyeye1

Understated, yes? One shadow, one liner, glitter on brows and in lashes.

crazyeye2
A nice shimmery highlight, some more glitter over the existing liner.

crazyeye3

Some nail art sparkly things… yes, let’s pop some of those on.

crazyeye4

Enormous gold lashes? Why the frack not?

And some MOAR glitter!  Okay, I probably could have done 2 pairs of lashes, and more glitter, and some different sized glitter, but hey. That’s a LOT of stuff. The lashes are pretty cool, no? They look like quail feathers, perhaps. Alright, so this look was a mental mishmash, but I hope to work out a more wearable look with blue brows and I’m sure I’ll be using little sequins again soon!

Products used: Sugarpill Goldilux, gold from Wet N Wild Dancing in The Clouds trio, Barry M Kohl Pencil in Navy (brows), Ulta Gel Liner in Ink, Sleek Dip It! Glitter Liner in Carribbean, nail art flowers from the £ shop, gold nail glitter from eBay, FE215 feather lashes sent for review from kkcenterhk.com  . (These lashes were *really* long, by the way! I wish I'd kept the portion I'd chopped off and used them on the outer corners. Oh well :( )

Bargains galore!

I am the Mayor of Bargain Town. I really can't resist a bargain, sale, or eBay! So because I'm home feeling poorly and a bit sorry for myself and my tummy, here is some of the cheap crap I've bought recently:

- Glitter! I got twelve glitters off eBay for $5 US including shipping! I was very, very wary of these because the pigments I bought off eBay weren't that great at all, but for five bucks I thought I would give them a go.

As you can see, they're darn pretty. Most of them don't reflect the colour they are, for example the purple (which I am wearing on heeeeere on Makeup Zombie's blog! :D) reflects green. The pots are pretty small but you don't need that much, and hey, five bucks. I got mine here. As for whether they are eye-safe... well, I'm going to say probably not, although they are quite fine and don't feel scratchy on the eye. I, however, don't care :P

- Make Up Academy eyeshadow, shade 12. Part of Superdrugs £1 make-up range, I was alerted to its beauty by MylanQolia and I love it! 12 is a very odd colour and hard to capture. Its a reddened brown with a green-ish silver duochrome. Ah, whatever, I love it and it was £1!

- 66 Lip palette. I got this a couple months ago now, but I thought seeing as I have these swatches on my PC I'd bung them up. Its about a fiver on eBay and worth way more than that, imo. Lookit:

- Vital Radiance lippies. Vital Radiance is or was a subcompany of Revlon. Apparently it was for old pe.... over 50's and was a bit of a flop. Subsequently, it is now relegated to Poundland and the like, where I snapped up THREE lippies for a quid when I went in there to get some humbugs for a coach journey (Sadly I am 100% serious about that part.) The lippes themselves are in a rather ugly taupe/seethrough packaging and they're the slimline type, which however irrational pisses me off. We already HAVE a shape of lipstick that works, there is no need for lanky streak-of-piss lippies that won't fit in my storage. Anyway, there were two great colours in here, Bare and Watermelon and I'm really happy with them, they're pretty and moisturizing, and you can't say fairer than that for less than a quid.

Melon:

Bare:

- Fauxnad! I've been wanting to try out Konad for ages and for all that You Tube gurus babble on about it being cheap, its just not cheap for me right now. £6 for one plate? Pah. However, I found a fake set here on eBay for about a fiver, so I snapped it up. The plates are mostly flowers and swirls, with some things that will never make it onto my nails, but it was really worth the cash for this:

Hello Kitty! I've had a quick go on my toes, but I refuse to put you through the horror of looking at my feet so I'll do some proper manis and a review soon.

- And the fail bargain. I snapped up a pot of individual false lashes from eBay for about £2. As I've always been impressed with cheap lashes I've bought online and so I was expecting these to be okay, at least.

Well, they're not. They don't have a little bump on the end like other individual lashes, so there is nothing for the glue to grab hold of. So basically I have what looks like a pot of pubes on my desk.

What have you been hauling lately? I'm awaiting a package from HiFi Cosmetics that I'm really excited about!

Love and kisses, I know a few of us need them right now x

Chirpy chirpy cheap cheap

Why haven't you entered my giveaway yet?

I thought I'd do a quick post showing some uber cheap stuff I've got in the last whenever... to show you sometimes you get an absolute bargain and sometimes theres a reason something has that low pricetag...

First up are a couple of Boots Natural Collection Moisture Shine lippies. Now, I've bought these lippies before, when I was a teenager and haven't bought them since, probably because they are so cheap so I just had it in my head that they were total crap. And they're really not! Boots Natural Collection is always a fiver for three, so a while back I went to grab some. I was looking for the much coveted Apple Blossom shade but my local Boots is tiny and doesn't carry it. So I got:

Caramel. I adore this colour! its really subtle but it has a little bit of shine to make it that bit more glam. These lippies wear really well - I'm wearing this shade today and it stayed on pretty well while I ate dinner. While not exactly moisturising, they have a nice, fairly creamy texture and apply really smoothly and evenly.

Rose Bud. If you want to win a tube of this lippy, go and join my giveaway HERE! I adore this lippy. It really is a perfect rose colour. The pigmentation on these lippies is impressive for the price- when I swatched them all in Boots, my hand was stained for the whole day, and I only swatched the more natural colours, nrot the red or auberginey shades.

I bought some pigments on eBay because I thought they were glitter - there are a lot of Chinese sellers on eBay whose... well, its Engrish, not English! Anyway, it was 2.70 plus shipping for 12 so I'm not really that put out.

As you can see, these colours NEED a base. They're extremely fine and not the best pigmentation. But those pinks are really beautiful and the dark browns are lovely too. You can see you're getting a cheap product though - some of the jars are crammed with pigment and some are barely half full. Also, on a couple of the jars the top clear part of the lid is a little loose. I have dupes for most of these in my 120 palette too, but hopefully I can find a use for them! I wonder if you can marble nails with pigments...?

This is the LA Colours palette in Wildflower. I'd seen and heard great things about these on blogs and on YouTube but figured it was an American brand and that you couldn't get them in the UK. However, I saw these babies in my trusty local beauty supply for two pounds. Pretty looking, huh?

The liner here is Barry M Dazzle Dust in WinterBerry but the other colors are all the LA palette. The texture of the gold is a little odd, not very smooth at all and doesn't apply that well, but that pink is just beautiful and unlike anything else I own. I was pretty pleased with the pigmentation of this palette as I couldn't test it before I bought it - and bear in mind I only did this look over UDPP, and not over a creamy base. I'm probably going to nip back and get the monochrome palette at some point.

Also bought some Rimmel kohl pencils including this beautiful shade 'Loveable Lilac, which is slightly metallic and so pretty.

I also bought a Benefit 10 'dupe' from Primark, which I will do a review on soon. Its nothing like the Benefit colour wise, but the pigmentation and texture is pretty darn good - and its £2.50 for 10g at Primark while Benefit charge £22.50 for the same :| Comparison swatches soon?

So thats all for now. I'm on a make-up ban for probably a long time now. Well... we'll see :D
