LOTD: Don’t Teal Me You Love Me

Just a simple look showcasing a new pretty from Darling Girl Cosmetics! Don’t Teal Me You Love Me was a limited edition duo chrome colour, and even though I’ve cut down a lot on my indie purchases, I simply had to have this shade and snapped it straight up!

Eyes: Darling Girl Don’t Teal Me You Love Me (lid, lower lashline), Sugarpill Poison Plum (outer V), MAC Gesso (highlight.)
Face: Darling Girl Kiss You Off Color Rich Lip Balm in Honey Love (as a blush), Make Up Store High Tech Lighter in Stardust
Lips: Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 255 Mauve Diamonds

I really, really love this colour. It’s so hard to capture but it’s got a purple shift in some lights, it’s really beautiful. If you click to embiggen that full face photo, you can see how vibrant it really is! I’m just wearing it here over an eye primer, I can’t imagine how zingy it would be over a sticky base! While my favourite products from Darling Girl are the lip and cheek colours, if you’re into indie makeup and haven’t tried DG’s eyeshadows, you’re really missing out.

What’s been your favourite indie makeup purchase lately?

Sugarpill and Illamasqua Mermaid Look and Paperself Giveaway!

Oooooh, I really need to learn how to take better photos! This looked so much better in real life, but ain’t that always the way? I did not want to take this look off – so SHINY!

Eyes: LA Colours Jumbo Eye Pencil in, Sugarpill Lumi, Sugarpill Darling, Sugarpill Royal Sugar, Elf Lock and Seal, Collection2000 Extreme Coloured Mascara in Teal, flat back pearls from eBay, Paperself lashes
Cheeks: Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in “Maybe?”, Sugarpill Lumi
Lips: Illamasqua Apocalips, Sugarpill Lumi, clear Inglot Sleeks gloss.

I think these are my favourite eyebrows ever. Mmmm, teal. I was feeling in the mood to use some Sugarpill today, as I thought they’re the perfect company for a mermaid look! Sugarpill Darling is one of those Goldilocks colours that's pretty simple, but  just right!

Aren’t these lashes AMAZING? My sister got me them for my birthday, and I finally got round to using them.  If you’ve not heard of Paperself lashes before, they’re laser-cut eyelashes made out of paper and they have some beautifully wierd and wonderful versions! I cut mine down because they were really really long, so I have some cute fish half-lashes for another time – even though the box says “suggested for single use only,” you’ll get at least two uses straight from the packet. I did manage to take them off carefully and I’ll get another use of them for sure, but I think if I screwed up the lashband, I could cut off the fish parts and stick them to some other lashes if I really wanted! If you want to use them a few times, I'd recommend not wearing them over shadow, as it's hard to peel the glue/shadow combination off the lashbands without them breaking. Also, you obviously can't clean them afterwards, so it's up to you if you even *want* to re-use them.

You can see how long they are here, it’s ridiculous!

Aaaaaand now for the ‘citing part. I have one pair of these gorgeous Paperself The Broken Hearts – Secret Treasures “Under The Sea” lashes to give away! All you have to do is be a CURRENT GFC follower – don’t take the piss or I’ll get Liam Neeson on your arse - and leave me a lovely comment about anything you like and I'll contact you if you win. Simples!  Open to all y’all lovely people worldwide, closes next Thursday.

Darling Booby LOTD

Eyes: Lid, Sugarpill Darling. Lower lashline, Sugarpill Darling with a damp brush. Crease, Fyrinnae Blue Footed Booby. Brow and Inner Corner highlight
Cheeks: Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover, Sleek blush in Suede.
Lips: Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in Torture.

You only get one derpy full-face photo because I’m a total idiot and didn’t realise that one of my lashes had lifted, and you can’t really see it in that shot. I’m not really wearing foundation at the moment because I got a tan on holiday and none of them match! I’m making do by mixing Hardy Candy Glamoflague in Medium up and sort of using it as a tinted moisturizer. Meh.

On the eyeshadow front, *swoon* at Blue Footed Booby. It’s not on the site at the moment, but damn, I love the low-shimmer Fyrinnae shadows. They’re just perfect – get thee Damn Paladins if you don’t already.

FashionistA Fashion Secret Gel Liners

If I see a new brand in Superdrug, I have to get something from them. It’s like a compulsion. Last week I saw FashionistA had arrived in my local store – they have a customisable palette system with seemingly a good range of blushes, which excites me (all sold out though! Waah!) but I also was drawn to these liners:

How weird is that packaging for a gel liner? Very strange indeed! I’m not sure the shape is so great – they’re very deep which I can see causing issues with messy brushes once you’ve used a good amount of the product. The cap screws off to reveal the liner and has a brush in the handle. The brush I’m not 100% sold on – it’s nice for smudging and applying over a large area but it’s not *quite* stiff enough for a good cat eye. Not bad for on the go touch-ups though, and if it’s too short for you, you can flip it over and stick it in the cap which is nice and gives you a bit more control.

Anyway, let’s see the product!

Style (top) is a black with lots of green and blue sparkles. Dressed Down Cool (bottom) is a brown with lots of pink sparkles. Both are so pretty! I did swatch Dressed Down Cool a little thicker than Style but they’re pretty equal in pigmentation and texture.

‘’ on the upper lashlines and smudged underneath in both photos.  If you enlarge that last one you can really see the pink sparkles.

When I first swatched these, I immediately thought they were cream shadows – very creamy for a ‘gel’ liner, and they took a while to set compared to other gels. When I wore Style on the lid alone, it creased really quickly, so these certainly need a primer if you want to wear it as an eyeshadow base. With a primer, however, they last all day with no creasing at all, so these could easily be a contender for NYX Jumbo Pencils for me! Bring out a white please, FashionistA!  I did find that you need to be a bit on the careful side when creating a wing with these as they don’t dry very fast, but on the plus side that means they’re nice for smudging as you don’t have to be super quick. So swings and roundabouts for application – if you have really heavy lids and find colour transfers onto your upper lid, I’d go careful with these,

Sadly the names of all the liners are on the safety label which covers the lid, so take note of them if you’re a forgetful so and so like me, as the names aren’t on the Superdrug website yet either!

Speaking of Superdrug, I went and swatched a few others in the shop! Cheeky! The gold and black look lovely, but sadly the purples and teals aren’t as pigmented  or opaque as I would have liked for a gel liner. Still decent enough as a cream shadow or a base though, I suppose, but still.

So yes, a few oddities, especially with the packaging, but at £6 each I think I’ll be back for a few more! The black and gold are on my list.

Shop your Stash: Samples!

At the start of the the week, I swore I was going to use some unloved shadow samples everyday. However, I had a couple of awful nasty early mornings, which means a mascara and lipstick day, so there’s just three looks here - I can’t deal with doing my makeup with no daylight. Anyway, a long time ago I started to store my samples in pill organisers, which I soon gave up because it just takes up way too much room. I don’t really reach for them any more, but I’m going to try because I rediscovered some gorgeous colours.

I need to give a few things from my stash some love… would you guys like to see looks from Sleek Acid or some Hi Fi looks? Let me know!

High Voltage Love Week: Day 6

Due to recent customer service complaints, long order waits, orders going missing and ingredient inconsitencies, I can no longer recommend High Voltage Cosmetics.
Hullo thar! Got caught in a horrrrrific downpour today, right after I'd dyed my hair. NICE. Anyway...

I wanted to do a look showing off 'Roadie' for today:

Lid: High Voltage Roadie
Crease: High Voltage Ragnarok (Norse Mythology)
Lower lashline: MUA Intense Glitter liner in Malted Chocolate, HV Ragnarok on top.
Liner: Gosh Art Liner in....er, brown?

Cheeks:
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Stereo Rose

Lips:
MUA lipstick Shade 11.

I LOVE ROADIE - what a wicked deep teal-green! I really don't think I can say anything else about this look, other than I should have done a white waterline and probably a less pink lipstick shade. Oh, one other thing - with High Voltage shadows, I prefer to use a creamy base, such as NYX pencils, rather than something sticky like Pixie Epoxy - I get a much nicer, more even payoff with them, and they're really pigmented anyway! Only one more HV day! Waaaaa :(

Quickie Review: Collection 2000 Extreme Coloured Lengthening Mascara in Teal and Blue

Stupid deals. I'll ALWAYS go for the deal, even if I'm not sure I'll like the product. A couple of days ago, in desperate need of a new mascara, I spotted a 3-for-2 offer on Collection2000 eye products. I purchased the new Skyscraper mascara and two of their coloured ones.

Pretty packaging...

Blue, without flash and with.

Teal, without flash and with.

...pretty colours. And on the eye?

Blue, 2 coats. The colour didn't intensify more after applying more than 2 coats, so I don't feel the need to show a clumpy mess for no reason :P I also had to adjust the colour levels here but it's pretty a accurate representation of colour.

Teal, 2 coats (sorry about my eyeball), Teal, a bajillion coats.

In the second picture, I applied more after wearing it all day. You can see from my bottom lashes that the colour has faded.

Thoughts....

I'm not a massive fan of the brush. The bristles are very short, which combined with the dry formula doesn't make it easy to get non-clumpy lashes -and you do need to build the colour on with Teal. The mascara wore well throughout the day but I noticed the colour faded during the afternoon and got darker with both shades. Bit of a shame - I want my lashes to be colourful if I'm wearing coloured mascara, and it's not something you can really touch up, like gloss or blusher. Both shades are beautiful though - the teal is really eye-catching and where the blue is quite dark, it's a subtle but pretty difference to your regular black or brown.

So would I repurchase? Eh... probably not. At the price, I think this is a pretty good product. The mascara does lengthen a decent amount which is nice for a budget mascara - I'd certainly give the black version a go - but the fact the colour fades throughout the day makes me a bit of a sad panda. I did try the teal on my brows last night (didn't get a picture, herp derp) and it looked awesome, though!

The mascaras retail for £2.99 and also come in black and purple. Ok, so I might try the purple...
