Double Dares with Beauty's Bad Habit: David Bowie

On Fridays, Beauty's Bad Habit has a Double Dare - one of her readers will challenge her to a make-up dare, which they then have to do themselves. She asked for ideas on Twitter and I challenged her to do a David Bowie look. Why? Because he is sexy. That is all.

Here's my look - I'll post the inspiration picture at the end.







I didn't use much - the Sleek Good Girl palette and Beauty UK Metallic Sparks pencil in gold and that was pretty much it. I should have taken the red into my hairline and made the circle a little smaller but I just... eh, I'm not that great at the face, and that comes from not thinking about stuff like that! But it was fun to do!

Second Mask Entry for Julissa's Masquerade contest!

Anyway, here is my look. I really, really wasn't happy with it all, but not close up, it looks ok. As per, I gave up halfway through when neither my Kryolan nor regular ol' eyeliner wanted to cooperate for drawing the lines. I was 'inspired,' if you can call it that, by both the cool mask Bayonetta wears at the start of the game and the mask scene in the Labyrinth a bit, and Labyrinth in general, hence the shape of the eyeshadow.

What do you think? It was fun to do and I got to put a posh dress on (thems the rules!) If anyone wants to know, the massive flower was £2 from Primark and the earrings I bought years and years ago at Accessorize.

I just loved the winged shape I did for this, so I decided to do it for the wearable look too. I just did a toned-down version, with some lilac-ish blush and blotted my lips with a lighter purple lipstick to keep the overall colour scheme. I always do a less heavy look after I've done a face with loads of slap, I can't help it!

Sometimes, the night is generous to me...

I'd like to ask you guys a teensy favour. As I mentioned in my last post I'm lacking in inspiration so I thought having a theme might give me some ideas. So would you either have a little vote or give me some ideas for a theme?

I know these have all been done to death but I'd still like to try one! And any ideas are really welcome. Please don't ask me to do Twilight though, I may have to vom on you.



Anyway, for Makeup Geeks weekly challenge, which is comic-book themed, I decided to go with Rorschach, my favourite character from my favourite comic book, Watchmen. If you haven't read Watchmen I totally recommend it, it kicks ass. The film is good, too (awesome soundtrack) but the book blows it out of the water. The look itself was a bit of a fail, and as normal I thought "fuck this" half-way through, but here it is anyway...






The lips were supposed to be like the blood on the happy face. I wanted to do it with my OCC lip tar but thought that staining my face would be pretty bullshit. Ah well, it was fun and I got to wear a hat. I might do a yellow 1950's original Silk Spectre type look too. What do you think?

Face n' that...

I always do multi-purpose posts. Do you guys think this is a good thing or a bad thing? I'd rather cram a few of my looks/manis into one post than spam you with my face everyday.

So a couple of manis first. I was really pleased with all the lovely comments that I got on my water marbling post that I did another one when I took that one off. It was difficult because I had to use tap water and I was using a polish which, while awesome looking, is basically one of those ones thats an emulsion of micro-glitters and it didn't spread that well. But I loved the result!





Both colours were L.A Colors Color Craze. I totally recommend these polishes for a bargain brand if you can find them in the UK because they're only £1.50 (I think in the States you can get them in Dollar Tree, etc.)The silver is Live and the turquoise is Radiation. Pretty neat mani, huh?



This is what I'm wearing today. I get so many comments whenever I do leopard nails, and it is the EASIEST. NAIL ART. EVOR. All you do is a blob in the middle (optional) and then draw c's and o's - and if its wobbly, it's better! I used Barry M Matte White for the base (crap, crap, craparoo), Barry M Yellow and Cobalt Blue, La Colours in Lightning (pink) and Atomic (turquoise) and a black nail art striper/pen.





There were a couple of green and purple psychobilly-esque looks on Make Up Geek recentley so I thought I'd give it a go. My liner sucked that day and I think I could have done a better job. I just don't have the brows to do pin-up looks. I used Barry M's Pearly Mauve and Parrot Green and NYX Super Creamy, and I wore a sheer-ish red gloss from MUA. I think maybe I used a brown for blending because the purple seems not-so-purple.

And now my favourite look of the week!







It was inspired by MatthewLX's Rihanna inspired look (click iiiiiit) and I just had to do something! I used the three matte neutrals from Sleek Bohemian palette and a neon pink Fardel Maquillage, with Sarah Harding Girls Aloud lashes. I love these lashes because they don't bop around all over the lenses of my glasses!

Gorgeous Goths (and me :S)

First off, Happy 4th and a belated Happy Canada Day :D I hit 100 followers today so I'm pretty stoked! I know I've been tagged in a couple of blog awards and I will get round to tagging and properly thanking people soon.


A Small Warning... there is a bit of tit in this post, but fear not, it ain't mine. Its not just to titillate (ahahahahaha! Ha!) its because the boobs are attatched to some awesome make-up.


At risk of sounding like a dorky kid on an MTV show, I wish I was a goth. My mum and dad are bikers and while they look pretty darn ordinary minus all the tattoos, I was brought up surrounded by gorgeous goths, beautiful bikers and pretty Pagans and ever since I can remember I've been in love. In the dark depths of my wardrobe there are big black platform shoes, publicly indecent kilts, pvc, fishnet, coffin-shaped things, skull-y wullys... Sigh. My boyfriend sort of talked me out of it - unknowingly - when I was a teenager in case I pissed off his nan and I tamed it way, way, way down. I amped it up a bit at uni, mostly when I went clubbing and I dressed more goth, rockabilly, punk, blah. Why don't I do it so much anymore? I don't know, I kind of feel phony when I do dress up and am back in my Breakfast Club t-shirt and jeans the next day.

I totally love gothic make-up. The classic pale skin and dark, heavy lined eyes are what most people think of, but there is so much more pretty than that...


















Sigh. Anyway...enough of that. Even though I'm in lust with the elegant eyeliner and amazing brows of the ladies shown above, I wanted to do a real dark smokey red-and-black combo:










I think it looks more Kabuki than goth... Ah well, it was fun to do and I'm going to do some better looks soon. I think I should have done a black or nude lip, but I wanted to try out my new OCC lip tar! Its awesome!

More Evil Shades and massive pink lashes...

Oh! Before I begin you've got until midnight tonight (I'd say UK time but... well, till I get up tomorrow) to enter my GIVEAWAY!


Anywoo... In love with my Evil Shades still. I did a kick ass look with Gift, River, Devil's Bonfire and Suffocation yesterday, but did I take a photo? No. That would be sensible. I've been a bit crap with that at the moment, but I'm really not feeling my skillz this week or so.

So... more swatches.



I love Necropolis, its so beautiful irl - dark brown base with tons and tons of copepry shimmer in it. Inferno is a bad ass hot pink with gold/silver sparkles - I find that finding pinks that I like with good payoff is really difficult, especially brighter shades. Souls Torment is AMAZING. It reminds me of Barry M's Oyster grey, but a bit more purple, with loads of blue sparkles. Double Barrel is, as the name suggests, a gun-metal colour, and I see rainbow sparkles in it. Glooming is yet again a deep, true black, with deep blue sparkles in - I didn't swatch this over a sticky base so the glitter didn't show up, but trust me, its crammed in there!

Anyway - here's a simple look with Seraphic all over the lid with a little bit of Zombie blended in the outer crease and on the lower lashline. The copper colour in the crease is er... something else?





I'm really loving Seraphic - it bring out my eye colour really nicely. The next look has Wistful all over the lid, Suffocation in the crease, Reondite in the inner corner and I think a bit of Nola in the outer V and I wore this with the Guilty as Sin Wicked Gloss. Excuse the unblended highlight :S




Anyway, sure you all get it by now: I love Evil Shades, go buy some. Now I want to yabber on about my Fardel UV pink make-up.




Fardel liquid make-up is just what it says it is, and it can be used for air-brushing or painting straight on the face. It was five quid for 30ml, which will last me forever. I picked up a UV pink one and had a little play:










How amazing is that pink? I am such a whore for pink eyebrows, and I don't know why because I don't want pink hair.... hmm. Anyway, I'm definitely going to get some more of these Fardel paints, I think they'd be great for detail work. The lashes are from eyelashesdirect.co.uk, who I totally recommend if you're in the UK. They were 99p! If you'd have bought these from Stargazer or similar, they'd have cost about £7! I'd really, really recommend them, they dispatched my order the same day I placed it! Most lashes are just £2.50 as well! Anyway, thanks to the lovely Jonna of nukleopatra who gave me the inspiration for this look- your Jeffree Star look made me want to play with some pink!

I am going to kill Bill

Some Kill Bill inspired make-up for you today! Its going to be irregular, but I'm going to do a film inspired look from time to time. I have a few ideas - Labyrinth, Meg from Disney's Hercules - but please leave a comment on this post if you'd like to see my take on your favourite film :)

Now, I had it in my head that the suit Uma Therman wears in the movie has a checkered stripe down the side of it, like a NY cab, and it doesn't, but I realised that once I had already started. I had in my head that she drives a taxi too, when I know full well it's the Pussy Wagon. Whatever. It's *inspired* y'all.

As always, never as good as it looks in my head but here it is!

















The checkerboardness is odd. Its very hard to paint it on your eyes, especially because mine have quite a lot of fold in them, so up close at certain angles, it looks really messy when at others it looks perfect. It took me sooooooo long to do as well!
