March Favourites!

March has been a rather fab month for me… I’ve been enjoying work, been on lots of fab shoots and been having a rather nice time with Boyfriend. I’ve been so busy I’ve not been wearing much makeup, but I do have a few favourites to share! Feel free to link me to your favourites posts/vlogs!

Clockwise from the top:

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse BB Cream: I’m not a big BB cream user or expert, but I really, really like this one. Kathy gave me a sample last year and I fell in love. It’s pricier than a lot of non-counter BB creams on the market at £18, but it’s well worth it and I happened to get a surprise discount at the till so this was actually only £11 or so. It’s got SPF 25 which is fabulous as I’m terrible for not wearing sunscreen, and my dry skin absolutely loves it. It leaves a nice dewy finish and just makes my skin look fresh and healthy. I do need concealer with it for blemishes, and prefer to powder my T-zone but it actually lasts rather well.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Light In Purple: Holy shit, I love this product. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and have managed to use it on four models so far – I should probably put it away! It’s a lovely blue-lilac duochrome and while it is slightly sheer, it can easily be built up and it’s just the prettiest, prettiest base for blue and purple looks.

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder: A lot of fuss has been made over this product! The sculpted product is really appealing in the packaging and looks a lot like the MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finishes that were brought out this year and the texture is very, very similar as well. I’ve seen this compared directly to Whisper of Gilt which is absolute madness – W.O.G is a bright gold, this is a pearlescent pink. It looks more champagne online and in the pan, but translates on the skin as pink, not dissimilar to Benefit Highbeam. I love this type of shade and to have it in a powder form for just £3 is great!

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden: I was gifted this as it didn’t work for the original owner (thank you, Joey!) and I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ve not bought UDPP for a long time after discovering a cheaper alternative that I preferred, but I actually really like how the yellow tone in this dials down the veins on my eyelids and allows me to wear a light wash of colour without having blue veins peeking through.

Makeup Store High Tech Lighter in Stardust: I’ve reviewed this here, so you may as well go check that post out if you’re interested. Great stuff, want more, nuff said.

Le Maq Pro Petite Palette Concealer (Light and Medium tones): Man, these things are freaking awesome. Tiny palettes not much larger than a credit card, filled with all different correcting and concealing cream makeup. They’re about £25 each from PAM, and they are SO worth it. So handy for my makeup kit and everyone is very intrigued by them! I’ll do a full review and swatches for these if anyone would like.

Darling Girl ‘Honey Love’: This is a beautiful pinky-nude lipstick shade, and while it’s not my favourite lip colour ever on myself, it is an absolutely perfect cream blush colour and I’ve been carrying it with me in my makeup bag for ages!

Phew

I've been a busy bee at the moment, working, being social, pretending to be a make-up artist and watching/reading all the Harry Potter things ever ever. (Deathly Hallows was awesome, fyi.)

Anyway, here is a bunch of crap that was clogging up my camera:

Despite having a whole new Sleek palette of pinkness, I've decided Evil Shades Seraphic (inner lid) and Fyrinnae Sugar Skulls is my favourite combo of pinks ever ever ever.

I did, however, show Sleek some love and use Bad Girl, Acid and Sunset to do a blue and gold look, with match-y nails using Claire's colour changing polish and a gorgeous gold by Model's own.

I finally used Fyrinnae's Electro Koi as a lid colour. I'm liking light creases at the moment so I used Damn Paladins, one of my favourite neutrals. The bottom lashline is two MUA shades, no idea what the numbers are. I. ROVE. ELECTRO KOI.

So thats meh face...

Accessorize Aztec. Omg.

Barry M Dusky Mauve.

Blurry but duochromey - old school Urban Decay Graffiti.

And some random neon pink with emo-y stars.

Most of these swatches are chipped to poo because I've had terrible English winter light - i.e., none - for ages. Waaah.

Harry Potter looks soon. I know, I know. Shut up.

NOTD and a big F*ck You to Urban Decay and Barry M

I bet you can guess why I'm annoyed with Urban Decay. But onto my nails first!

This is my Spring Jungle look. The base coat is Dynasty from Collection 2000 Hot Looks. I love these colours, but they apply a little streakily. Still, they're less than £2 each, and they dry really fast which is great. As you can see, I'm still loving the Fimo sticks, although these pink butterflies popped off really fast. I did this yesterday and they all came off at work. I was watching the London Marathon while I did this mani so its totally my fault. The bigger fimo thingies obviously don't fit the curve of your nail well, so you need to take the time to glue them properly. Sigh. So they're ruined and I have to do new ones today. Shame! :D

As a little bonus for you, behold my gorgeous polish storage!

:D Biscuits are so glamorous!

As I'm sure you guessed, the reason I hate Urban Decay right now is because of their bloody Primer Potion packaging. Just in case you don't know, the packaging for this is a bitch, and when you think you've used it all, there is still a crapload left in the bottle. I guessed people complained to Urban Decay, and they made the doefoot applicator bent instead of straight, so you can scoop more out. Well, this is my first bottle of UDPP and I got the new batch with the bent applicator. I've had this since just after Christmas, and a couple days a go it started to go on me. I thought I'd got a pretty good run out of it, and I really wasn't expecting a whooooole lot in the tube because they've changed the shape of the applicator, but boooooy was I wrong!

Behold:

Wtf? I've seen soooooo many blog and forum posts on this and I was still amazed. I guess the new shaped applicator does get more out of the widest part of the bottle, but there is soooo much left in the top. So if you're thinking you'd never bother with this, do it! I got 3 of these little tubs for 99p from Saver, fyi, and I just painted UDPP on with nail polish to make it a little prettier.

As for Barry M?

Yeeeeeeeeah. I got this brush a week before this happened to it. I bought it because it was only about £7, I didn't have a blush brush and it was nice and pink. Apart from it BREAKING IN FRICKING HALF, it is the scratchiest, most horrible piece of crap, and it deposits colour horribly. You may as well apply your blush with a Brillopad. I can't wait to get the MAC vouchers I asked for for my birthday :|

Love and irate kisses,

Robyn xxx
