Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Frollo

This week, egged on strongly by Suzanne, Vijaya gave me Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. What a douchebag. And a pervert. As per usual with Disney Villains, though, he has the best song in the film.

This looked SO much better in real life. That's what I get for doing this at 10pm! Sigh. Can you see what I was going for?! I really want to do this again so I can do justice to it and, you know, take photos in daylight. You can't see the grey wing underneath or the different coloured purples, or the red glitter in the inner corner. Siiigh. I like the red waterline, though!

I kept with the villains theme this week and gave Vijaya Ursula. I'm quite jealous that she go Ursuala even though I gave her the character! Ursula is a fucking badass, and she was based on Divine. What's not to love? So go and check out her look here, thankyouplease.

Inglot Cream Foundation Review

I normally use Revlon Colorstay for my foundation, and while I still love it and would recommend it if you like a long-lasting, high coverage foundation the packaging is pretty poor - messy, heavy, and generally a pain in the arse. So, I popped into Inglot a couple of weeks, asked for thier longest wearing foundation, and was shown thier Cream Foundation, which according to the store MUA is medium to heavy coverage. Sounded perfect.

Hooray for functional packaging! While I don't like white packaging for makeup as it inevitably gets stained with other makeup (*cough* Sleek Bohemian *cough*) I'm not anal about that sort of thing, I'd much prefer that it works. Plus it does come in a box, so... er, that can get ratty instead.

Inglot carry five types of foundation - the Cream Foundation, the AMC Cream Foundation, the YSM Cream Foundation, the AMC Mousse Foundation and a Cream Powder. I have no idea what differences between them all are, although if I recall correctly the AMC Cream is the most expensive and the YSM Cream is the least. They also carry various types of concealers, pressed and loose powders, illuminators and correctors, body tanners, etc etc, as well as face stuff for the Freedom Palette system.

Inglot Cream Foundation is £14 for 30ml, compared to £12.49 for the Revlon Colorstay or £19.50 for MAC Studio Fix... I'd say medium price range.

Anyway... let's see it in action.

As you can see, it's a fairly thick cream (water based, FYI.) It has a very light grapefruit-y scent, which doesn't last on the skin.

I'm shade 21, which shockingly is the lightest shade! I automatically went to pick up the second and third lightest shades to swatch, and the MUA in store grabbed the lightest right away. I was pretty surprised, but she admitted that thier colour selection doesn't go very pale, which is a shame. There are 15 shades in this type of foundation, however, seemingly with plenty for darker skin tones, so.. swings and roundabouts with the shade range. Selfishly I don't mind as I got a match, tee hee.

Now let's shove it on my face:

Bare skin on the left, covered skin on the right. Applied with fingers, no powder, primer, or concealer. Apologies for the wonky photo lay-out... blogger will NOT move them, and nor will Live Writer. I've resized them, shouted at them, begged and pleaded to no avail.

So far, so good. Admittedly, my skin tone isn't terrible (my problems tend to lie in my awfully dry skin which still manages to have an oily t-zone) but it's doing a pretty good job on any blemishes/milia (this is why you need a decent skin routine, folks). As I expected, it's looking a little cakey on my chin, which was quite dry, but apart from problem areas, this is a lovely finish. Not too matte, but not dewey either. I'd say this is medium, coverage. I wouldn't class it as heavy but it it's fairly buildable.

Will I repurchase? I think so. Without powder, I'm getting about 6 hours wear and then I need a little dusting of powder on the t-zone, and with powder I can get a couple more shine-free hours. I am doing a powder touch up at around 2 or 3 o'clock with this (I normally apply my makeup at around 8.00). So, while the Inglot does have lighter coverage than my regular foundation, I like it a lot and I think I'll be back for more.

The only downside I'm seeing to this is that if I layer it under the eyes as a concealer, it does collect in my fine lines much quicker than my Colorstay and it's getting rubbed off under my glasses (on the bridge of my nose and the side of my face) quicker, so it's not that transfer-resistant. On the flipside I don't have to take a Brillopad to my face to get it off!

Quickie Review: Inglot AMC Cream Blush

Inglot carry four types of blush – Face Blush, AMC Face Blush, AMC Face Blush (liquid) and these bad boys, the AMC Cream Blush.

I’m not that learned in cream blushes - I have a couple which are really nice, but they're quite hard to come by in drugstores in the UK. I  bought these for my kit as I had only powder blushes before – I love the way cream blushes seem to melt into the skin, and I love a multipurpose product so I really felt I ought to have some in my case. These can be used to contour - no shimmer - and as lip colours too (not eye safe, however.) They cost £9 for 5.5 gm and they carry 15 shades.

First of all, these are SUPER creamy. When I swatched them in store, I thought they were pretty damn creamy and then when I got these new ones back home and swatched them, I realised the ones in store had dried out somewhat because these are insane.  As such, you only need a tiny bit for both cheeks.


I've worn 80 and 91 - though not 81! I must be mad! -so far and I'm really enjoying them. They certainly don't last as long as powder blushes on me - perhaps about 4 hours? - so I've taken to setting them with a corresponding powder blush. Sadly all the photos I tried to take came out overexposed so.... you'll have to keep your eyes peeled. I'm sure I'll use them on myself again soon - naughty me! I also want to catch them all - they have tons of beautiful nudey-peachy colours and a great range for darker skin tones as well which is nice to see.

Morgana Cryptoria 1920s Lipstick Collection– Swatches and Review

Kathy recently sent me an AWESOME package with the Morgana Cryptoria 1920s Lipstick Collection in it! AHMAGAD. Before I get around to showing you the awesomeness that is these lipsticks, I’d like to cordially invite my local Post Office and Parcel Force to Fuck Off. This package was sat in the back of the post office all lonely because I never got a ‘you’ve got a parcel’ slip through my door and I had to go on a quest to three post offices to find it, which was fabulous, obviously.

ANYWAY. They are finally in my grubby mitts. They’re packaged beautifully in red and gold as opposed to the the normal black and silver tubes, which gives them a really glamorous retro look, and they come in a lovely red stars-and-moons baggie. (The zombie was sent to me, amongst many other awesome trinkets including seafood flavoured candy, by Kathy. I’ve called the zombie Kathy in her honour.) Bee’s Knees

If you know me at all, or have even thrown a cursory glace at my blog, you probably know how much I LOVE an orange lipstick. I adore them, I crave them, I am a slave to them. This is is so beautiful, and not too yellow or ‘dirty’ looking on the lips,  which is a problem I sadly have very often with pumpkin colours. LOVE. Expect to see this with a brown smokey eye very soon!

I don’t have a colour quite like this in my collection. I love brown tones on me and to have a more gothic brown (does that make it steampunk? :p) is really cool. This to me is the most 1920’s colour out of the lot for some reason – perhaps I ought to read more makeup history?! I’m really looking forward to working out what I can pair with this one - I'm thinking just a cream lid and a massive winged liner.

To my surprise and delight, my boyfriend loves this one! Hurrah! It looks slightly deeper and more black in real life. I’ll be wearing this all Hallowe’en, I expect!

I adore this one! It’s not as bright and in your face as the website swatch, but I actually prefer it on my lips.It's more unique looking in real life and there’s something really authentically vintage about it.

Perfection description. This one is really unique. As a fan of orangey colours, I really appreciate the brick undertone to this. If you’re into corals, etc, this is a really cool alternative. I really, really want to use this as cream blush at some point as well.

Top photo is applied lightly as a stain, bottom photo is full application.I don’t think this one is very accurate to the swatch on the site at all – it certainly looks more of a stain than a creamy lipstick, although it feels very creamy, and it’s a lot more blue-based in real life - but nonetheless it’s bloody gorgeous. It was this shade that I thought would wear beautifully as a stain as it really looks like you’ve just been munching fruit!

I’m not that well versed in Morgana lipsticks (combination of price plus shipping manages to get a small parcel hit with custom fees, so it’s just a bit too much for me normally) but the formula of these is wonderful. I have 3 other lippies from the normal line and while I find them long-wearing without being uncomfortable, these do feel more pleasant on the lips and of course, some of these are apply really beautifully as a sheer, stain-like product as well. Always love a multi-functional product! I’d definitely  recommend these beauties and am sending Kathy a big wet kiss as soon as I can find a box big enough!

Wendy sent me a stealth package of win and joy last week, so I thought I’d share it with y’all as she sent me some pretty freaking awesome stuff.  Swatch dump ahead!

L-R, Twlight, Shamrock, Plum Noir, Golden Olive on bare skin. I wore Twilight on the lid and smudged out black liner with Plum Noir this week – lovely. Twlight is a lovely metallic, slightly purply taupe and it’s gorgeous. I don’t have anything else like this.

Sinful Colours Call Me Later and Confetti Tasmanian Devil (Deborah Lipman ‘Happy BIrthday’ dupe… or close enough!) Two coats of the Sinful colours and three of the Confetti. The latter I ought to have put over a base of some description but I was too excited. I'm wearing it now as a gradient from the cuticle over a silver polish.

Wet and Wild goodness... Dancing in The Clouds and Ravin' Raisin.

GORGEOUS. I had to swatch these on a base… the browbone and crease colours do not need it and are SO buttery and smooth. The purple sadly has quite rubbish payoff. Wet and Wild should feel ashamed of themselves because this had the potential to be the most fucking awesome three-pan they’ve ever put out.



I’ve been lusting after this lipstick for a LONG time. Once again… I apologize for not exfoliating my lips. I reapplied this again, but it wasn’t as colour accurate so…. tough shit!

Hard Candy ‘Fireball’ – ENLARGE FOR FLAKIES. Smell and tastes just like Rhubarb and Custard sweets. I’m in love with this. LOVE. Even though the applicator is enormous to the point of making me blush when I put it on.



Jordana LOL Gloss ‘ASAP.’ Sooooo sparkly! I'mma layer the crap out of this one. And it smells of watermelon sweets. Seriously though, ‘Lipgloss Out Loud’?! I don’t even…

I’m really loving the ELF Radiance Enhancer… it’s the same colour as Benefit High Beam, but a much thicker, creamier texture so it’s much much easier to wear under or mix with foundation and have it actually make a difference.

Oh yeah, and one of my favourite sweeties, sour patch kids! There are tons of America supermarkets in London but I’ve had real trouble finding these. Needless to say these have all been eaten. Nom nom nom.

I totally forgot to swatch/photograph a NYX lipliner in Pumpkin... it went straight on my face and thus into my everyday makeup bag, soooo.... sorry. But Lip Maths is going to be back soon as the summer holidays are over now, so it'll be featured in that shortly!

Disney Collaboration with Fierce Nerditude: Mrs Potts

Mrs Potts is your favourite teapot, don’t lie. If I was charmed into an anthropomorphic household item, I’d want to be a teapot. Or a toastie machine…

 

 

Lid, MAC Gesso, pink from Sleek Circus palette. Crease, yellow from Sleek Circus palette. Upper and lower lashlines, Barry M Dazzle Dust in Lavender. Yellow liner, Inglot Gel Liner. Blue liner, Primark Foiled Again.

Sigh. This looks better in real life, but not that much. It was one of those ones where I kind of gave up half way through – I wanted to re-create to pattern on her bottom (tee hee) but the formula of the liners was too thick and it was gunking up my lashes…. Ah well.  I know what I would have done if I were to do it again… a pink lid, like hers, and yellow and purple brows.

Matchy-matchy with Sleek Suede Blush

Sleek have just brought out the Nude collection, and having just gorged on neutral eyeshadows I was good for the palette and just bought the Suede blush as I have nothing really like it in my collection. As soon as I’d got it in my grubby paws, I knew I wanted to do a matchy-matchy look – I have done ever since I saw this utterly gorgeous tutorial by Lisa Eldridge. Go and watch it, seriously. It's makeup porn if ever there was any.

I just put a skin coloured shadow all over the lid, then applied Sleek Suede in the crease and lightly dusted it over the centre of the lid as well. Obviously I put the blush on my cheeks as well, and I even mixed it with clear lipgloss and applied it to the lips! I have to say I really like this look. I don't normally go this soft so that's saying something.

So next time I’m feeling a bit poor, I’ll be searching to see what I can do with one product in my stash! (If you're not sure if something is eye safe, just pass on that item! I don't want anyones eyes to fall off.) I'm quite keen to use some of my brighter Sleek blushes as eyeshadows ever since seeing Jerry use them.
